#16 - Swifter's Tale

Summary - Two best friends along with their ever loyal dragons end up fleeing their home village of Phoenix Drop, after Grumblegard blows it into the sea; killing everyone inside the village even those with dragons. They end up on the little island in the middle of nowhere called Huttsgalor. Face to face with a group that consists of; two humans and five dragons...it turns into an awkward encounter...especially since the two dragons the best friends rode were dragons the people of Huttsgalor and the Rescue Riders had never seen.

(Phoenix Drop - six months ago)

"I already told you, don't come back!"Grumblegard shouted, as he huffed and let out his puff of air that sent the two riders hurling backwards in the sky.

"Man, this guy seems angry."a blonde haired teenage girl muttered, atop a white and black NightLight.

"Look out!"her friend shouted, maneuvering his dragon out of the way.

The girl guided her NightLight towards him. "You two okay?"she asked him, as he nodded.

"Uh...yeah..."he trailed off, giving her a smile.

"Guys! Look."his dragon, a black and blue swirled dragon, pointed with her paw to the village.

The girl gasped as her friend could only stare at the burned village in front of them.

"C'mon, let's go."he guided his dragon away, using her fast speed to zoom off into the sky.

"Right."the girl muttered.

(Present day, Huttsgalor)

"Morning dragons!"a ten year old redhead girl shouted, as she walked into the Roost.

Around the Roost, were all five dragons (with the exception of Swifter and Nimbus, who slept with their riders respectively). She approached a green and yellow dragon with an eel-like tail and a crown of fins on her head and simply tossed the dragon a fish.

"Thanks Leyla!"the dragon said, happily as she swallowed her fish.

"Hey! How come Summer's first? Where's my fish?"a dark brown and orange dragon complained, as Leyla tossed him a fish; resulting in using his tail to stab the fish and drop it in his mouth.

"Is the famous Cutter complaining?"a voice made the Razorwing jump as a sleek black dragon with crystal blue eyes and a blue tipped tail walked in with her rider nowhere in sight.

"Swifter? I thought you were with Blade."Leyla asked the dragon.

She grabbed a fish and dropped it at a blue and cream dragon's feet. "I was. He's just busy talking to Izzita."she explained.

"Thanks Swifter."the blue and cream dragon thanked her.

"Anytime Winger."she smiled before flapping her wings to reach the rafters, letting her tail hang as she hung upside down like a bat.

"That's scary when you do that Swifter. I'm scared."a purple Rockspitter said, whimpering.

Swifter rolled her eyes. "Burple, it's not that scary."her friend's voice called as the white dragon with black tipped paws, head nubs, and spine ridges walked in.

He used his tail to shove Swifter off the rafters, resulting in a thud as she hit the ground. "I was comfy."she growled.

"I don't care, Blade's coming and you know he hates it when you do that."the white dragon retorted back, smirking.

Swifter slapped him on his head with her blue tail. "Shut up Nimbus."she muttered, a small smile appearing on her lips.

"Swifter? You here girl?"Swifter's blue tipped ears perked up at the sudden voice as she bounded over to the black haired teenager with bright golden eyes.

"Did you need to ask?"Swifter sassed at him.

He laughed. "And the sass dragon is back!"he poked her nose with his finger as she snorted, shaking her head before trailing behind him.

"Okay Rescue Riders, today is training day!"Dak, Leyla's identical twin brother with the same red hair and green eyes shouted, leaning against Winger.

"Well, this is going to be fun."Izzita remarked, sitting on her dragon; Nimbus.

Swifter put her head under her rider and pushed him onto her saddle. "No kidding."Blade muttered, drumming his fingers against Swifter's saddle.

[] Okay...so new story idea that came to me after watching Rescue Riders and creating SkySwifter 'Swifter' (Blade's Dragon). And because there aren't really any Rescue Riders fanfiction...I decided to create my own! []
