Heroes of Olympus: Thirteen Years Later

Chapter 4

Annabeth's POV
"Frank, I think it's time to switch. Pull over for a sec and you call Percy, okay?" I said to Frank.

"Percy, your turn!" Frank's voice echoed .

"Coming!"

Two minutes later, my husband stumbled in, his black hair even messier than usual.

"Sorry, Wise Girl, our daughter didn't wanna let her dad go and drive."

Percy kissed me lightly and took the wheel. He started driving while I gave him directions.

"You know, Lukas is so much like you, reading in the corner all the time..." Percy commented.

"Like Anais isn't such a troublemaker like you!" I retorted.

"Yeah, right." Percy said sarcastically. Then he whispered to me, "I love you, my Wise Girl."

"I love you too, my Seaweed Brain."

We drove for an hour while joking and talking about the good old days when we used to go questing together. I just told him to turn left when Reyna burst in.

"Monster attack alert!" She exclaimed, " get all your weapons and armor ready, we're fighting!"

Percy pulled over and strapped on his armor. I did too, and together we headed out. We stood back-to-back as always, but this time Anais and Lukas were fighting too. A hoard of dracaeneae, two dozen telkhines, 2 Cyclopes, an empousai, and three hellhounds bounded towards us. We readied ourselves.

Jason and Zoey were doing aerial attacks. They swooped down from time to time,  causing enemies to vaporize at random. Will and Frank as well as the Zhang- Levesque twins fired arrows from the roof. Leo set their arrows ablaze. Reyna and Nico were slashing around. The rest of the children were fighting too.

I sliced up some hellhounds while Percy vaporized basically the entire dracaeneae hoard. It seemed like it was going well.

Suddenly Hazel yelped as a Cyclops almost got her with its club. An enraged Frank and Mary transformed into rhinos and charged it down. Frank checked on Hazel and found her fine, just some minor injuries on her right. Will fixed her up in no time.

We were dealing with the monsters fine until the empousai started luring Leon to come to her. Piper was trying her best to charmspeak him out of it while fighting a couple telkhines.

"Leon, no!" Piper used as much of her charmspeak as possible, but that made her concentration break. The telkhines got her cornered. Unable to fight back that many, Piper got scratched up really badly. She was bleeding all over, her shirt and pants were stained red.

Jason quickly carried her inside while simultaneously vaporizing 5 more enemies. Zoey sent a lightning strike, which left only the empousai and a Cyclops.

"Girls, let's go get the empousai. You guys get the Cyclops." I ordered.

"You got it!" Jason said, "I am not letting them get away with hurting Piper!"

We charged the empousai down while Emilie sneaked behind her. She has Hazel's Mist powers, and she used it to disguise herself. Emilie summoned a gem storm which shredded the empousai to bits.

Hazel smiled proudly and gave Emilie a high-five. Mary praised her twin sister.

Over on the boys' side, the Cyclops got vaporized by Lukas' sword. Storm assisted in electrifying his sword. Leon was there, looking very shook- but otherwise fine. Piper had saved him.
