"Wanna see my cars? I really like this purple truck. This red one has flames on it!" May hears her nephew, Peter, talk to himself from the kitchen, where she is making dinner. May smiles at herself, knowing four-year-old Peter probably has an imaginary friend that he's showing his cars to.
The same thing happens next year. "Do you want to draw with crayons or colored pencils?"
And the year after that. "My second-grade teacher gave me a star sticker today! Look, it's shiny!" May thinks this is a bit weird that Peter has an imaginary friend when he's six, thining he should have grown out of it by now. She sneaks to Peter's doorway, where she eavesdrops on Peter's conversation. "Are you in the second grade?" He pauses. "Oh, cool. my first-grade teacher was called Mr. LaBreca. he was super fun and had chicks in the classroom! They were super cute!"
"Peter, who are you talking to?" May asks finally, leaning against the doorway instead of hiding behind it anymore.
"Y/N!"
May laughed. "Who's that?"
"My friend," Peter states proudly. "She's a ghost!"
May tells him to have fun with 'Y/N' and that she'll be in the living room reading. Shaking her head, May opens her book and begins to read.
Peter continues to see Y/N until he's in sixth grade. He doesn't mention the invisible girl, and he never told May or Ben about it. As he grows up, he pushes Y/N to the back of his mind, almost forgetting about her.
Peter graduates high school as Valedictorian, gets a master's degree in chemistry, and a master's in mechanical engineering. He gets a job at Stark Industries, gets married, and has a daughter. Peter's daughter is the best thing that ever happened to him, she makes him happy by giving him trucks and crayons so he can play with her if he's feeling stressed. Y/N Parker is Peter's world.
When Y/N was around five and starting first grade, Peter recognized his daughter from somewhere else. He can't focus on his work because he's racking his brain for anyone that looks like his daughter. Suddenly, Peter remembers who he named Y/N after.
His ghost friend form first grade.
Peter sprints to his apartment 9the same one he grew up in), and went into his old bedroom, now his daughter's room. "Y/N?" He calls (it's not weird cause no one's home), searching the room for any ghosty figure. "It's me, Peter. We were friends when I was, like, four for five years?" Peter keeps trying to communicate with the ghost for a couple of minutes but sighs and walks out when he doesn't get an answer.
Peter leans on the counter of his kitchen and rubs his hand along his face. He hears a thud from the TV room and walks over to investigate. Puzzle pieces are strewn across the floor, but Peter notices that it spells, "HERE - Y/N/N (your nickname, or some shorter version of your name)"
Peter smiles at himself.
She was here.
