"and for the love of God don't forget your trousers," Mary told her daughter handing her the purple waterproofs as Erin packed for the protestant and catholic weekend while Clare and Alana sat at the kitchen table eating toast since Mary had already checked to make sure that Alana had everything in her bag, which involved unpacking and repacking the whole bag. "they nearly bloody bankrupted us. Do the protestants have to bring waterproof trousers? Or will the Catholics be expected to do all the dirty work?"

"dirty work? It's an outdoor pursuits weekend" Erin stated as Alana and Clare watched the two as they chewed on their breakfast.

"I thought you said you were building bridges?" Mary asked her daughter not understanding the metaphor that was used when Erin was explaining the weekend.

"not real bridges, mammy, metaphorical bridges" Erin scoffed her explanation which made Mary snap "then why can't you wear metaphorical trousers?"

"will any of your crowd be going, love?" Sarah asked pointing to Clare with her cigarette which caught the small blonde's attention and asked, "my crowd?" which caused Sarah to ask another question "or can you not get protestant lesbians?" Clare sat their gaping unsure of what to say for a moment until she stuttered out "no, I think that you can get them all right, it's just-"

"I heard that K.D Lang on the radio yesterday. Christ, but she has some set of pipes on her. You're very talented people" Granda Joe interrupted which made Clare nod and nervously say "thank you?"

Before anymore conversation about lesbians or Clare being a lesbian could carry on Orla came into the room waving a flashlight about even though it was daylight and asked, "Has anybody seen my bow and arrow?"

"Orla really thrives in the wild, you know. That time we went camping in Portsalon, sure she was like Mowgli running around them woods. She was that happy, Mary, I honestly thought about just leaving her there" Sarah told her sister with an airy voice.

"ach, Mammy" Orla smiled at her mother as Alana looked at her Aunt and told her "I convinced her not to" as she smiled proudly as she turned and heard to hear the last part of Gerry and Joe talking about the British Governor and the dubbing of his voice.

"I'll go" Erin wandered off to the front door that had just rung.

"it's because his natural voice is actually very seductive. Apparently, he sounds like a West Belfast Bond. As far as the English are concerned, a voice like that well, it's dangerous" Sarah told Gerry and Joe as she watched the tv from the doorway making it so that the men in the lunge heard what she had said and so had Mary, Clare, Alana and Orla had heard from the kitchen as well

"Just so I'm clear, are you saying that the British Government dub the voice of Gerry Adams because it's too sexy?" Gerry asked his sister in law with shock.
