melancholy heartbeats syncopated
to the resounding drum
of father time's march
heed no warning to time's ire and deceit.
so foolishly enthralled by guileless promises
of immortal bliss and fulfillment,
taking no concern to the sagacious nature of clichés
which try to caution their passion;
happily ever after seldom graces the fate of youthful amour.
though, vehement stubbornness compels the frail hearts to be steadfast,
blindly grasping the withering ruins of a
misleading love, with the grip of a newborn babe.
oh, how thou falls prey
oh, how thou falls alone
oh, how foolishly in love art thee.
