Whitley Schnee's pov

Whitley and Oscar walk out of their room and into the dining hall. Weiss and Ruby give them a knowing glance but don't say anything. It's not their secret to tell so they won't. Ren is in the kitchen flipping some pancakes and soon Nora comes out holding a plate stacked high with them.

Penny walks in and almost runs into Nora. "Oh I'm sorry!" Penny quickly steps out of Nora's way and she sets them down.

"It's all good penny don't worry about it!" Nora says taking her seat.

Penny smiles and takes her seat. Winter comes in with Ironwood and the Ace ops and sits down next to Weiss and Ironwood sits at the head of the table like usual.

"Alright that's the last of them." Ren says bringing in another two stacks of pancakes.

"Ren are you sure making all of those won't be a waste?" Winter asks.

Ren nods and sets the two stacks in front of Nora, "Don't worry those will be gone and the stack in the middle is for all of us to share."

Whitley looks at Oscar confused but Oscar just shakes his head and laughs. "It's a long story." He smiles and they eat.

Oscar Pine's pov

They finish eating and Ironwood starts to talk as the conversations die down. "So Whitley."

He's gonna kick him out watch.

"No he's not, Whitley's been training with me for months."

You never know.

"Shut up." Oscar hisses.

"Oscar, are you okay?" Ironwood pauses. Oscar nods and Ironwood continues. "As you've been training with Oscar I have seen that you have been growing as well. So how would you two like to be put in a shortened version of official huntsman training."

Marrow groans. "More kids?"

Harriet punches him in the arm "Shush."

"Yes Marrow more kids. How does that sound?"

Oscar looks at Whitley and Whitley smiles. "Okay." Oscar smiles and Ozpin groans

Ugh why Ironwood why.

Oscar rolls his eyes and Whitley chuckles. "When would we start?"
"After we get you two new outfits," Winter says.

"My outfit is fine." Whitley and Oscar protest.

"But you two are now atlas huntsmen in training. They got new outfits so you will too." Winter explains standing up to clear her plate. "So clear your plate and head to training, I'll have those outfits ready in a bit."

They nod and clean up their plates "Race you to the training room?"

"Okay." Whitley sprints out the room

"Hey not fair!" Oscar yells running out after him.

They race down the hallways and finally Oscar catches up to Whitley out of breath. "Aw already tired farm boy?"

Deck him Oscar.

"Not now Oz!" They finally reach the training room and Whitley opens the door for him. They walk over to the 'room creator' thing and add more obstacles around the room. Whitley grabs a spare weapon and Oscar grabs his cane.

"Okay let's go." Oscar says getting ready.

Whitley nods and jumps up on a platform. "You ready?" Oscar asks jumping on another platform. Whitley nods and holds the spare rapier with perfect from. Oscar lowers his stance and holds the cane in what he thinks is perfect from

You're not holding it right.

"Keep in mind that I am shorter than you were this is the only way that feels-" Whitley leaps over and makes the first attack. Oscar barley blocks it.

"I wasn't ready!"
"Yes you were you asked me if I was ready." Whitley smirks. They jump to another platform. Oscar jumps a little too high so he thinks about how to make it work. He smiles and kicks the spare rapier out of Whitley's hand. It goes crashing to the ground below but Whitley ducks and swipes the cane out of Oscars hand. He holds it like the rapier and jabs Oscar in the gut knocking Oscar to the floor. The timer rings and Whitley jumps down and helps Oscar up. "Sorry about that."

Deck him now.

"No!" He turns to Whitley and awkwardly smiles "It's okay, Where did you learn how to fight? Even at our first training you seemed to know a lot."

"My father signed us all up for fencing lessons. So when Winter went to the military and Weiss became a huntress they already knew things..."

He trails off and Oscar tilts his head slightly. "What were you going to do?"

"If I wasn't so scared of my father I probably would've became one of the two." Whitley says grabbing the rapier and setting it back with the other spare weapons.

"You are well on your way." The two turn around and Winter is at the door with two boxes. "Here are your outfits." She smiles and hands them to the boys. She looks at Oscar and her smile fades. "Oscar can I speak with you for a moment?"

Oh shit.

Oscar you messed up.

Do you know how much trouble we could be in? Especially since she only said can I 'speak' with you!

Oscar this could be the end of us, what did you do? ... Oscar? ... Oscar are you even paying attention?

"Um yeah, of course." He hands Whitley his box "If you could take that back for me please?" Whitley nods and walks out with Winter.

She leads Oscar down some hallways and into the music room. "What did you want to talk about?" Oscar asks

She laughs and smiles "Sorry if I freaked you out. I just needed to make sure my brother didn't get any ideas."

"Oh."

"Well I did want to talk to you. About him."

Ha! I knew he was bad news!

"Shut up!" Oscar turns back to her "Sorry, what specifically?" His voice squeaks at the end and Winter laughs.

"You and him?" Oscar nods and sits down on the piano bench. "I just want to make you aware of a few things." She says crouching down. "Our father was hard on him. Harder than he was on Weiss and I. Whitley has scars, physical and emotional he has nightmares frequently so most of the time he won't sleep." He nods and Winter puts her hand on his knee "But you know what?" He looks down and Winter makes eye contact with him anyways "Oscar you are the best thing that ever happened to him. Weiss and I left him alone, it's no wonder he resents us. You are helping him more than you know, and I can tell that he's helping you."

Oscar smiles and Winter wraps her arms around him and he starts crying. "Oh no, I didn't mean to make you cry!"

Oscar wipes his eyes "It's okay, it's okay."

Winter shakes her head and holds him until his crying slows. "You are incredible Oscar." She let's go and smiles, "Never forget that." Winter stands up and walks to the door, she pauses and looks back "He loves crepes and sweet coffee by the way."
