Oscar Pine's pov

He wakes up and looks around the white room. His eyes focus and he sees Whitley asleep on a chair next to him. Oscar sits up smiles. He puts his hand to his neck and relaxes when he feels the bandages. Whitley rubs his eyes and Oscar looks at the clock. It is 8:00 in the morning. Whitley sits up and opens his eyes.

"Os-Oscar?" His eyes start to fill up with tears and Oscar shakes his head

"No, you cannot cry I already saw enough of that yesterday and it scared-"
Oscar gets cut off with Whitley's hug. "I'm so sorry I left you alone, I should've never said that we should go to the tram station, it's my fault that you're here and-"

"You're right! I am mad you left me alone!"

Oscar you're going to make him feel even worse

"You left me alone when I was dying, it's a good thing Ruby was there or else I would be dead!"
Whitley sits back and looks down at the ground.

See I told you that was a bad idea.

Oscar smiles and shakes his head. "But you came back, and the Ruby thing was a joke." Oscar pulls Whitley into a hug. "I was just scared seeing you sad and wanted to make you feel better."

Whitley nuzzles into Oscar's neck and cries a little bit. Oscar rubs Whitley's back to hopefully calm him down. "I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault." Oscar says Whitley's breathing slows and Oscar sits back.

"I'm okay." Whitley sits up and wipes his eyes.

Oscar smiles "Good, now can I get out of here?"
Whitley shrugs, "I'll go ask Penny." Oscar nods and Whitley gets up to go find Penny. He opens the door and Ruby comes in.

"Hey Oscar." she says smiling

"Hi Ruby." He smiles

She sits down on the end of the bed. "How are you feeling?" she asks

"Better thanks."

"I would've been here sooner but Whitley insisted on seeing you first."

"How long was he in here?" Oscar asks

Ruby chuckles "Three days, he got here and the only reason he was cleaned up was because Winter forced him to."

"How'd she do that?" Oscar asks

"She told him that if he didn't change she would be the first person to see you." Ruby smiles

"Really?"

Ruby nods and gives Oscar a hug. "You had us all worried."

Oscar nods, "Did you catch him?"

Ruby shakes her head and sits back. "No but it shouldn't be too long. Whitley did a number on him,"

"What do you mean?"

"Oh he didn't tell you?" Oscar shakes his head "He unlocked his semblance."

Oscar smiles and looks at the door. "He did?"

Ruby nods, "Yeah, and it's even more powerful than Weiss or Winter's"

"But I thought it was hereditary?"

"It is, but I think it's the way he unlocked it."

"What do you mean?" Oscar asks

Ruby smiles "Weiss and Winter unlocked theirs through training, Whitley however unlocked his through emotion."

Oscar nods and Whitley walks back in. "Sorry to interrupt but Penny says he should stay here for at least another day so they can make sure he's stable."

Oscar nods and Whitley starts to leave but Ruby stops him "Hang on, I'm explaining your semblance to Oscar but I had a question."

Whitley nods and comes back in "I might have an answer?" He sits down and Ruby rolls her eyes.

"Your figure thing Weiss said was a prince? Where did you get that from? Because Weiss' knight was a painting in her room and Winter uses grimm because that's what she fights..."

Whitley shakes his head "Well it's kind of a long story. But the short version is a little story someone told me."

Oscar smiles and Ruby nods. "Cool. I have training in a bit so I'm going to go. See you two later." She leaves with a smile and Whitley takes her spot on the bed.

"Is that really where you got it from?" Oscar asks.

Whitley nods and rubs the back of his neck. "Yeah."
