Violet :

I woke up to loud noises in the kitchen. It's a couple of weeks until Christmas and everyone has been keeping to themselves lately. Everyone is busy with their own thing. I've been spending a lot of time drawing and being with Binx. It's been refreshing. I walk down the hall and instantly get hit with the smell of booze. I come to a stop when I see two figures in the kitchen.

"What the hell!" I yelled.

"Violet, what the fuck?! What's your damn problem?" My dad spoke back to me.

"Who the hell is this? Are you cheating on mom?" I point to the random hoe with blonde hair in the kitchen leaning against my asshole of a father.

"Will you keep it down? Go back to bed." He tells me.

"Where the hell is mom? I'm going to tell her." All I hear is him laughing.

I then feel my mom begin to rub my back. What the hell is happening?

"It's okay, sweetheart. Just let your father do what he wants, okay?" My mom tried to push me towards my room.

"Get out. Get out!" I told the blonde bimbo and watched her leave within seconds.

"Who the fuck do you think you are? You have no control in this house. I'm the boss and you listen to me. Why can't you understand that? Why can't you understand anything? Do you know how much of a disappointment you've become to your mother and me?"

"Well maybe if you were a better fucking father then I wouldn't be such a screw-up." This isn't going to end well.

"What did you say?" The house became quiet.

"If we didn't follow you to America then mom and I would be happy without you. You make both of us miserable. You're the damn failure in this fucking house." I've never felt so angry before. I can barely breathe properly.

The next couple of minutes felt like an eternity.

I watched my father reach for his cigarette and pin me against the wall roughly. He put the lit cigarette against my neck and let it mark me. He did this several times on my arms then legs until it faded out. I couldn't feel anything. All I could hear was my mom faintly yelling in the background. I felt my hands grip onto his hands, the ones I used to hold happily in the park when I was three years old. They were now gripped around my neck, taking away my last breath.

"You think you're better than everyone else, don't you? You can't even make your own family happy; your own mother happy. You're nothing but a mistake." I can see the evil in his eyes. It's so hard to focus on anything right now. I'm just trying to catch my last breath.

"You mean nothing to me." My father whispered to me.

I heard him loud and clear.

"You're... a coward." I can't let him win.

My mom's screams got louder as she watched him pick the whiskey bottle up. I felt the alcohol burn the fresh marks on my body and the smell suffocate me. I realize I'm on the floor and before I know it, he gives me one last kick to the ribcage. I feel myself rolling around on the floor, trying to catch my breath. I got kicked in elementary once, but that felt like nothing compared to this. How I wish I could go back to that moment to avoid the present.

I can see my mom trying to help me, but freaking out more than making any actions. I held my side as I tried to push myself up. My vision became more blurry. Wait, was that... Penelope, is that you?

I don't know how I managed to make it to my room but here I am. Laying on the ground as I breathe heavily, in pain, with Binx trying to nudge me. She knows something is wrong.
