On Sunday afternoon, I was ready to go to the concert where Kevin was going to perform, but I was in my room pacing the floor. Allan was in the living room at this current moment. I heard bottles clanging together, so I knew he was drinking. That means he will be down there for a long time, until he's knocked out.
I looked at my watch once again. It was 2:20pm. Kevin's concert started at 3:00pm and if I didn't leave soon, I will not be able to make it. I didn't want to call Kevin and tell him I couldn't make it. I know that he would be really disappointed.
A crazy thought came into my mind and I walked over to my bedroom window. Maybe I could sneak out through there. I opened my window and look down. Instantly, I discarded that idea. What was I even thinking? It was a long way down and there was nothing beside the house to help me down. I could get seriously hurt.
I closed the window and began to pace the floor again. You need to think of something, Kayla...
Ten minutes later, I was still there thinking, when I realized that the house had gotten quiet. I didn't hear anymore footsteps or whiskey bottles being slammed on the coffee table. Maybe he fell asleep, I thought to myself.
I crossed my fingers and tiptoed to the door. I opened it slowly and listened. Sure enough, I heard snoring coming from downstairs. He is asleep!
I opened the door wider and step out of my room. I continued walking slowly until I reached the stairs. I took a deep breath and began descending it quietly.
One step...two steps...three steps...
One by one, I took the stairs until I was at the bottom. I breathe a sigh of relief. Now it's time to make it to the front door. I look over at Allan who was sprawled out on the sofa, a half empty bottle of whiskey in hand and other empty bottles of beer and whiskey was by his feet. His mouth was half open and he was snoring loudly. Disgusting slob!
I made my way quietly over to the front door. As soon as I pass the couch, my foot hit an empty bottle. It rolled and rolled until it hit the wall. It make a ping sound when it hit the wall and I swung my head around in the direction of the couch. Allan stop snoring for a second and shifted a little. I held my breath, until I heard him snoring again. I continued my walk to the door, opened it and slipped through.
I closed the door behind me and walk down the short steps. I decided to walk to a bus stop to take the bus, because it was a long way to go to the diner, where the concert was being held.
When I reached the diner, it was almost three o'clock. I spotted Jasmine and Lucas sitting at a table in the center of the room. I walk over to them.
"You're here," Lucas said, when he saw me. "I thought you weren't gonna make it."
"Are you kidding me?" I said as I sat down in an empty chair at the table. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
After a short while, Kevin and a group of people came on stage. They were all the people that were in the band with Kevin. They all took their positions with their different instruments. Everyone in the diner along with us began to clap and then they started their performance.
The show was amazing. From the person who sang to the other members who played the instruments were talented. The melody was so beautiful, it had everyone captivated. When they were finished, the crowd erupted in applause. My friends and I cheered loudly for the band and of course Kevin. I think that our table was the loudest. Kevin smiled at us and gave thumbs up with both hands.
When the concert was finished, we all decided to go to a restaurant for dinner. Kevin had said it was his treat, which I was thankful for, because I didn't bring enough money with me.
When I got home that evening, Allan was no longer in the living room. He was probably in his room sleeping. However, the empty bottles were still scattered all over the living room floor. I sighed as I picked up the bottles off the floor, throw them in a plastic bag and put them in the bin. He can't even pick up after himself and if I didn't do it, he would be angry when he wakes up in the morning. When I was finished, I went up to my room to have a bath and go to bed.

On Monday, we were in the cafeteria eating our lunches when suddenly Jasmine froze in her seat.
I frowned at her. "What is it, Jasmine?" I asked.
She was looking at someone over my shoulders. "I know that guy. I didn't know he attended this school."
"Who is he?" Kevin asked.
"His name is Eli Carter. He was at the family dinner I went to with my parents on Saturday. His mother knew my mother; they were old friends from high school. The dinner was so boring, because only adults were around, until he came and started talking to me. He and I were the only teenagers there." Jasmine explained. "I was shock as to why this stranger was talking to me, but it turns out he was pretty cool. We talked for almost an hour."
"By the way you're talking about him, I guess you enjoyed his company." I said, lifting my eyebrows at her.
Jasmine looked down at her food and blushed. "I mean...I did." She answered.
"And I also notice that he's cute." I added, wriggling my eyebrows at her. "Go on. Go and talk to him."
Jasmine looked over at him again. "I don't know. Maybe he doesn't even remember me or maybe he doesn't want to talk to me. I just don't know..."
I could see that Jasmine liked this guy, but she was afraid. "You won't know if you don't try. Go on." I encouraged her.
"Okay." She replied, then take a deep breath. She got up from her chair and walked over to where Eli stood.
When Jasmine reached him, he looked at her with a surprised expression and then a bright smile came over his face. I could see that he did indeed remember Jasmine. They started to talk and I turn back around to Lucas and Kevin and smiled. "That went well." I stated.
They both smile in agreement, nodding their head. I turn around to Jasmine again and saw that she was heading back to our table with Eli.
"Eli, these are my best friends, Kayla, Kevin and Lucas." She introduced us when she was at the table. "Guys, this is Eli."
"Hello, nice to meet you." Eli greeted, smiling at us. We all greeted Eli, while the boys studied him intently. They're always doing that whenever Jasmine or I was interested in a guy. They said that they wanted to make sure the guy was okay and not a 'class A douche'.
After the introductions were done, Eli said that he had to go. He turn to Jasmine and smiled. "So Jasmine, I'll see you around?"
"Yeah, sure." Eli then waved to all of us at the table and walked away.
"That wasn't so bad." I stated nudging Jasmine's shoulder.
"No it wasn't. Turns out he didn't know I went to this school either. He was surprised as I was. He asked me out to get ice-cream after school." Jasmine added smiling.
"On a date?" Lucas asked.
"It's not a date. We are only going for ice-cream. I'm sure it's nothing." Jasmine said discarding the idea immediately.
"Well, even if it's just ice-cream, that's still great." I said. I could see that Jasmine was trying to down play it, because she didn't know if Eli like her or not and she didn't want to get her hopes up.
Jasmine nodded her head and went back to eating her lunch. However, I didn't miss the smile that appeared on her face as she ate.
