Four years later
It was late in the evening, Summer, Ruby and Yang were out shopping while Tai and Y/N were at the house watching TV, everything was fine until...
Tai: Y/N, hand me the remote.
Y/N didn't hear him
Y/N: What daddy?
Something inside Taiyang finally snapped and punched his son in the face causing him to fall on the floor and began crying.
Tai: YOU HEARD ME YOU LITTLE SHIT! THE REMOTE, GIVE IT TO ME!
Y/N stood up and handed his father the remote, still crying.
Tai: (taking the remote) That's better!
Tai quickly looked back at a Y/N who's eyes were drenched in tears and grabbed his shirt.
Tai: If you tell your mother about this, she won't believe you and you'll get hit harder for lying. Do I make myself clear?
Y/N: (nodded) Y-yes daddy
Tai: (released him) Good, now go to bed!
Y/N ran up the stairs crying.
Summer, Ruby and Yang returned home with the grocery bags in their hands.
Summer: We're home!
Tai: (getting off the couch) Hey girls, here let me help.
Tai took some of the bags from them and set them on the counter.
Ruby: Where's Y/N?
Tai: Oh, he went to bed he was tired.
Summer: Oh well I have to give him a kiss goodnight.
Summer walked up the stairs and went to Y/N's room but nobody noticed Taiyang frowning along with his building anger and jealousy.
Summer opened the door to Y/N's room and saw him crying and sat on his bed.
Summer: (stroking his hair) Y/N?
Y/N immediately sat up and hugged her.
Y/N: Mommy!
Summer: (hugging back) What's wrong?
He was about to tell her but than he remembered what his father said.
Tai: If you tell your mother about this, she won't believe you and you'll get hit harder for lying. Do I make myself clear?
Y/N: Bad dream
Summer: Oh my poor little angel. Don't worry, mommy won't let anything happen to you.
Summer began humming a lullaby for him to calm him down and help him back to sleep.
1 year later
Taiyang continued being abusive towards his son when the girls and Qrow wasn't around causing Y/N to be afraid of him and not wanting to be left alone with him but unfortunately sometimes he didn't have a choice. When Summer was taking Ruby and Yang to Qrow for a whole week of training, Y/N wanted to go but he was too young for training.
Y/N: Please mommy, I want to go too!
Summer: I'm sorry Y/N but you can't start training yet. I'll make it up to you, next year you can come with us to begin your training. For now, you stay home with daddy, ok?
Y/N's back started shivering when he heard that but nodded and Summer hugged him.
Summer: We'll be back in a week.
