"Em!"

Halle and her friends charged into the cafeteria, searching for Emily Fields. Hanna kept trying Emily's cell, but there was never any answer. If they weren't already panicked before, the last shreds of calms were about to be snipped.

"Where is she?" Aria asked, breathing heavily.

"Maybe they left," Hanna sighed.

"Get away from me," they heard Emily scream. Calmness had gone; replaced with undeniable worry and uncertain panic.

A gasp left Spencer. "That's her."

Halle started to run. "Em!"

"Emily! Emily!" Aria was panicked, shaking with fear.

"Emily!" Hanna called out as they hurried up to the second floor. It was dark, no lights were on upstairs. It was because no students were supposed to be up there; they were all in the hall, waiting for Hanna Marin to show up for her homecoming queen crown. But Emily's cries were from the second floor, and that was were her friends went.

"Em, are you up here?" Spencer shouted out. "Emily?" She tried turning on the lights. They flickered, but in the end, the four of them were stuck in the dark. Spencer looked at them. "Um, why don't we split up?"

"Um, why don't we not?" Hanna fired back.

"Han, we'll go in twos," Halle suggested.

It still didn't sit well with Hanna though. She caught Aria typing on her phone now. "Who are you calling?" she asked.

"I'm trying her until she picks up," Aria stated, holding her cell up to her ears.

A ringing sounded from nearby. "Wait." Halle's ears twitched. "Can you hear that?" A slight nod from Spencer was all Halle needed before she charged off in search of her friend. "Em!"

"Emily!" Hanna cried out for her.

Aria had ran ahead, but she skidded to a stop. Her heels screeched against the floor. Her eyes landed on Emily's phone, abandoned on the ground, ringing out. She bent down and picked it up. Her eyes found her friends. She offered them, "it's just her phone."

Fear built in her chest; Spencer began to search the area. Her frantic shifting led her to the open door to the chemistry lab. Slowly, the girl approached. "Emily?" she said softly, her friend now following in tow.

Their worst fears were realised when their eyes landed on the scene. Shelves were knocked over; an entire unit was tipped over on the floor; a stool on its side. A crack sounded beneath Halle's shoe and as she lifted it, she saw she had stepped on a piece of glass from a broken beaker.

Hanna gasped, eyes wide. "Is that blood?"

"Han, don't go there," Spencer scolded.

"Why not?" Aria snapped. "She was up here with Toby." She caught sight of Halle venturing further into the room, bending down to pick up Emily's stranded shawl. "Halle, leave it!"
