"Never Letting Go"
The annual school fashion show was approaching. Due to Spencer being on the committee board for it, the five friends found themselves folding programs. Halle remembered how excited Alison used to get around this time of the year. Alison loved the fashion show — any excuse to make her centre of attention, Halle thought. Sat cross-legged on Emily's desk chair that she pulled next to the bed, Halle did her absolute best get Alison out of her head and fold the programs neatly to help Spencer out. Yet her friends weren't so easy on dropping the subject of Alison.
After all, it was what brought them back together.
"Why would A show us that part of the video?" Aria asked.
Hanna finished folding one program and put it down on the pile of finished ones. She said, "To keep us distracted for when the next attack is launched."
"Or to tell us there's more to what happened that night," Emily inserted, trying her best to see the see the silver-lining in A's latest stunt.
"Don't give A credit too quickly," Halle warned her sharply. "A has never once done anything without a take-back."
"Guys, Ian tried to kill me in the bell-tower," Spencer reminded them. "He left Halle bleeding out in the church to get his perverted videos, and he went after Ali for the same reason."
"Yeah, but A had us convinced that Ian killed Alison," Emily defended.
"And it's what? Two miles from the kissing rock to Ali's house?" Halle mentioned, agreeing with Emily on this one. Emily was the one to figure out Ian didn't commit suicide — that A played a part in his death — Halle gave Emily more credit for than any of the others.
"Exactly. So, did she turn off the camera and walk home? In the dark? Alone?" questioned Emily.
Something about that made Hanna agreed also. "Yeah," she said, "someone could've been waiting for her and surprised her when she got home."
"Like who?" Aria asked.
"Like Ian," Spencer snapped. She remained firm. "You know just because he didn't kill Alison at the kissing rock doesn't mean he didn't do it an hour later."
"If Ian didn't kill Ali, did A?" asked Hanna. Her question made them fall into nervous silence. They had all thought maybe A had more to do with it, but none of them had never said it aloud — it scared them to.
Breaking up the atmosphere hung over them, Halle changed the subject. Now she had the option to, thanks to the silence, Halle grasped at the chance to stop talking about Alison. "So..." Halle spared Aria a quick glance as she worked on folding her own pile of programs and asked, "did you invite Fitz to the show?"
