Jaemin awakes to the echo of his alarm bouncing off the walls of his room. He groans and sits up, rubbing the tiredness from his eyes. He looks to his alarm clock, sighing when it read 6 am. Jaemin grumbles and makes his way towards the bathroom.

Today was his birthday. He was now 18. It was official.

"Jaeminnie, come on! Jaehyun is gonna drive you to school!" The young boy can hear his brother call through the door. His footsteps recede and Jaemin exits the bathroom, now washed up. He goes into his bedroom and opens his drawers. Pulling out some jeans, a sweatshirt, and a T-shirt, Jaemin gets ready. After pulling his shirt over his sweatshirt (because it's a look and he rocks it), he goes downstairs to the kitchen where Taeyong was sitting.

"Where's hyung?" Jaemin sits down at the counter after grabbing a glass of milk.

Taeyong looks up from his phone. "He's on his way. He'll drive you to school, and then me and him will head to work."

"I can just walk Taeyong."

"I know. But I don't want those boys to beat you up on your birthday...it's just for today, alright?" Jaemin only hums in response. "That reminds me..what kind of cake do you want?"

"Just a small chocolate can work, I guess. I mean it'll just be you, me, and Jaehyun. Right?"

"Oh...is Chenle not coming?"

Jaemin sighs. A car honk outside signals that Jaehyun had arrived. Jaemin continues talking as he and his brother make their way towards the car. "You know how his mom is. She's never been a fan of me." He gets into the backseat while Taeyong gets in beside his boyfriend.

"Ah that's right. She's a little strange isn't she." The car starts and they pull out of the driveway towards Jaemin's school. The young boy only shrugs.

Jaehyun looks at him through the view mirror. He smiles. "Happy birthday kid. You're 18 now...and you know what that means..."

"My soulmate marking." Jaemin looks at his lap and smiles. He's always believed in soulmates, and he's always wanted to meet his. Just the thought of there being someone out in the world meant for you exactly is already enough to excite Jaemin. But the fact that you get a mark when they first touch you is even more amazing. It always makes Jaemin smile when he thinks about spending the rest of his life with his perfect other half. And he knew it would work out, because he had his brother as living proof. He found Jaehyun in college, and the first time they touched was when Taeyong shared a pencil with him. The slightest brush of their fingers was enough to let a black spot form on the tip of his finger. Ever since then, they had been together. Jaehyun was like a second brother to Jaemin. He cared for him and loved his as much as Taeyong did. And now that Jaemin was 18, he could finally figure out who his soulmate was. Figure out who he'll spend the rest of his life with. The person who will make him smile, make him laugh, make him cry. It didn't matter if it was a girl or boy or inbetween, Jaemin loved everyone the same.

"Ok kiddo, we're here." Jaehyun's voice pulls Jaemin out of his thoughts. He unbuckles himself and steps out of the car. He turns to face Taeyong's window as it rolls down.

"We'll be here when you get out of school. Ok?"

"Ok. Bye hyungs, I'll see you later." He waves and turns, walking towards the school gate. A faint 'happy birthday' can be heard as Jaemin enters the school.

Immediately, he's wrapped up in a tight hug by his friend. "Jesus Chenle, let me breath a bit." He laughs and hugs back.

"Ah! I'm sorry." He steps back and smiles. "But it's your birthday! And your 18th one at that! It's so exciting!"
