It was late into the evening. Barbara had just bid (Y/n) good night and was on her way back into the attic for the night. However as she was climbing the stairs, she heard the familiar voice of a very desperate sounding Beetlejuice yelling, "Now, help me be romantic!"
By the time she opened the door, she saw her loving husband being what looked like interrogated by the stripe-clad demon. They both stared at her, she gawked back with confusion.
"Am I interrupting something?" she asked.
"BABS!" Beetlejuice blurted, "Just the woman I wanted to see! How do you get someone to like you?"
This sudden question caught Barbara off guard. Was he serious? She knew he was a horny bastard and would basically throw himself at anything and anyone. As harsh as that sounds, it was how she saw him. But seeing him now, the desperation and want in his eyes... She believed him.
"I-It depends on the person I suppose..." Barbara trailed off, unsure of what to suggest.
"I already suggested flowers!" Adam pointed out, trying to be helpful.
"Who is it that you like?" Barbara asked Beetlejuice.
"Uuuuggghhh," Beetlejuice threw his head back and groaned dramatically, "I don't wanna say it out loud!" He was already embarrassed enough asking for help.
"Hey, it's okay," Barbara soothed. Beetlejuice crossed his arms in a childish pout.
"Can you tell us a little bit about them?" she tried asking patiently.
Beetlejuice scratched his stubble covered chin. "Actually, I don't really know a whole lot about her. We kinda just met..."
"Well, tell us what you do know." Adam suggested.
"Okay..."
Beetlejuice dropped into Adam's chair and took a deep breath before he answered.
"First of all, she's gorgeous. Her hair, her eyes, her smile is just... holy shit! She has a really great laugh, too. She gets my humor and we poke fun at each other a lot."
As Beetlejuice continued, the tips of his hair turned progressively pinker with each thing he listed. "She gives the BEST hugs. Like, seriously, she's only given me one so far, but it was the best hug I've ever had. Hands down. OH!"
He hopped up and began pacing, still listing all the things that came to mind. "Also, she has the most AMAZING singing voice! It's so relaxing and calming. But to top it all off, she treats me nicely. Like... a person. You know? It feels so... good."
Barbara was shocked at how sweet he was being. He wasn't being vulgar about it. He was actually being genuine.
"Beetlejuice," Barbara cooed, "That's so sweet!"
"I KNOW!" he cried out, throwing his hands in the air in despair. He covered his eyes as he dropped back down into the chair. "Fuck, I feel like such a sap."
"Hey now, don't look at it like that!" Adam consoled, "It just means that you really like her. And that's great!"
"I know, but she's not gonna like me back." the demon said, pessimistically.
"You said you want to get to know her better, right?" Barbara pointed out.
"Yup." Beetlejuice replied, popping the 'p'.
"Then, why not make a game out of it?"
Beetlejuice quirked a bushy brow at her, clearly not getting her idea.
"You know," she tried explaining, "You ask her a question, she answers, she asks you one, and you answer. Make a game out of it!"
Beetlejuice mulled this over in his rotting head. It processed in his mind. And BING! It all made sense! He looked up at Barbara with a new found hope in his eyes and a grin on his lips.
