Chapter 6 - Hell of A Lot of Trouble
What do you do when life gets you so far down that it feels like rock bottom, but then you realize its not but just small baby steps everyday down to rock bottom. What do you do when you’ve only got ten more steps and then you’ve truly reached it? What do you do when rock bottom is actually confessing that you love someone in front of a hundred close friends and family, but then the really low point of rock bottom is that you might not love that person.
But once you realize you’re on your way to rock bottom you quickly snap back into reality. Like I’m about too. “Why the hell did he do that?!” I asked looking between all of them.
“Tell her Luca.” Reed said walking up to our little conversational group, I turned at looked at him, he had a obvious black eye, a cut going through his eyebrow, his lips was split too, and a little blood seeping down his nose.
I looked at Luca she had a guilty look spread across her face. “What’s he talking about?”
“When you left the first place bar, I cussed out Sawyer for accusing of being some whorish gold-digger..”
“Sawyer had the right idea calling you that.” Vivian mumbled looking at me while fidgeting with her purse.
“Mother be quiet!”
“Well she shows up here with a man that’s not her fiancé, she’s wearing his shirt, her dress is on backwards, and she has bed head. So you can obviously tell she slept with him!” she accused while also pointing out all of my flaws. I looked down and noticed that my dress was in fact on backwards.
“Why am I even here?” I asked ignoring Vivian.
“We totaled your car. They needed an owner statement.”
“When did you do that because we never took my car and I have the keys.” I said digging through my clutch trying to find them. I couldn’t find them. “I had my keys. Luca where are my keys?”
Reed pulled my keys out of his jacket pocket and handed them back to me. “We’re really sorry Meredith. We’ll get fixed in no time.”
“How long is no time? Because I have to be back in Seabrook before the wedding, God Luca what were you thinking?! I need my car to get back, you know that! You know how important it is for Taylor not to know I’m here! What the hell am I going to do! You’ve got a brain, you need to use it sometimes!”
“Now we all need to calm down! And figure out what were going to do. Meredith I’m sorry but you might have to call your parents on this one.” Handlin said squeezing mine and Luca’s shoulders gently.
“No! I can handle this. I’m gonna handle this on my own. I just need my car fixed, and not in no time, I need it fixed by yesterday.”
“Unfortunately we can’t fix it. It has to much damage. But we can get you a new one, same year, same color, same everything.” Handlin said with a barely noticeable smile on his face.
“We are not buying her a car Handlin!” Vivian said turning to her husband.
“We’re not. Luca and Reed are.” he smiled between the two.
“Whatever I’ll be outside.” I said turning around with Carver on my heels.
“We’re sorry ma’am but we need your statement now.” the young rookie officer said. I followed him back into a small tiny room with windows at the tops of the wall with bars going across them. There was a silver metal table in the middle of the room where the light shined down on the probably cold desktop.
