chapter two
-"i know, and I'm really sorry." came his soft reply.
and even though she truly truly wanted to believe him she just couldn't bring herself to. she was the type of person that lived at extremes. when she did something she really did it. he was her first boyfriend, her best friend, the person she ever really cared about, the only person she really cared about.. and he was also the first and only person that could and had hurt her. he'd ripped out her heart time and time again and this time she wasn't sure that he- or anyone else for that matter could put it back together again.
OK so she had trust issues by hey didn't everyone? as a child she had been abandoned and been passed from one care home to another. she had learned the hard way not to trust anyone but then he had come along and turned her world upside down. at first she had resisted but eventually he wore her down. and now she hated herself for it. for not being stronger. for not just ignoring him and doing her own thing- alone. but she had to forget about that now and just concentrate on the present or she knew she would go crazy.
and so after a moments silence she momentarily tried to collect her self. she didn't want him to see her that way. she didn't want him to know how badly their breakup had affected her. she had always been bad-ass and she would stay that way. no one was going to change that- especially not him !
she shakily drew out her wallet and and took out a joint and placed it in her mouth, she then retrieved a lighter out of the back pocket of her denim shorts and lit it. she could practically feel the disapproval rolling off Eli and she took a drag- her hands were still trembling. she didn't care- or at least that's what she told her self.
"since when did you smoke marijuana?" he asked
"since when did you care?" she retorted knowing perfectly well that it was childish and immature of her but she just couldn't help herself.
he blew out a frustrated sigh and looked her straight in the eye. "c'mon on Rox. you know that shit's bad for you." she rolled her eyes and blankly stared back at him.
"is that all your doing?"
"what?"
"are you taking any other.. drugs." he clarified.
she laughed once but not in good humour. he stared at her refusing to look away which was, quite frankly, making her feel very awkward so she drew in another drag and replied in the negative.
"it's not because of me is it?" he whispered so quitely she had to strain her ears to hear him correctly, the words seemed to almost tumble out of his mouth. her heart stopped beating, which, until that very moment had been furiously banging against her chest.
she was torn. she didn't know whether to outright blank him or answer instead. she knew that he wasn't entirely the reason for taking up marijuana. after he'd broke it off with her she'd gone crazy. she didnt know how to deal with it. she started hanging out with Adam- a guy that she wasn't completely sure of how she'd met him- probably at a party but it didnt matter to her. what mattered was that he dealt and she needed it. plus, it didn't hurt that he was attracted to her which meant that she got discounts or sometimes even free extras. she wasn't addicted however, even though she'd been taking for at least 2 months but it helped take away all the bad things away. and that's what counted.
now though she realised that the only reason why she wasn't addicted was because she was a witch. she shuddered.
she ended up unthinkingly saying;
"please! this is purely for recreational purposes." she mentally cursed herself for trying to make a joke at a time like this but thankfully Eli didn't comment, only raising an eyebrow.
they both knew however that he was- partly anyway.
"OK, enough with the 21 questions- its my turn!"
"aren't i the one that kidnapped you?"
"so?"
"technically i should be asking you questions."
"well, technically, you've already asked them and now its my turn." she stuck out her tongue. he smiled automatically like it was a reflex action or something but then quickly turned away.
"OK, shoot."
she cleared her throat, unsure of what to say. "so.. you re a vampire..?"
"and your a witch." he smirked. her heart sped up.
"right."
"right." he smiled.
"you have to drink blood."
"is that a question or a statement?" he asked evenly.
"a question?" she wasn't sure.
"rocsi do you really want to know?"
"no.. but i need to know anyway. do you drink blood?"
"yes."
she gulped.
"do you have to drink blood?"
"how'd you mean?"
"i mean, if you didn't drink blood would you spontaneously combust or something..?"
he smiled indulgently. "no i wouldn't spontaneously combust if i didn't drink but then i wouldn't be able to do certain things."
"certain things?" shed picked up on the key words.
"yes."
"such as.." she prompted.
"such as-" and suddenly he went from being sprawled on the bed to standing two inches away from her in an instant. he gently removed the joint from her grasp and chucked it on the floor. he then proceeded to flattened it so to kill the flame and bent down toward her ear to whisper; "this." she gasped and then stiffened. but not because she was scared. she wanted him. she wanted to touch him right now. she wanted to run her hands through his hair and just hold him close to her. to bask in his presence but she wouldn't let herself. she couldn't do this to herself.
so instead she tried to repress the shiver that went through her are coolly said; "OK so you can teleport. anything else?"
how about this? he whispered in her mind, his head still bent down and buried in her hair.
her heart was going wild. she had to get a grip! she tried to draw in a deep breath to steady herself when she realised that his arms had wounded their way around her waist and he was almost cradling her. she tried to step back but her back was against a wall. there was no where for her to go. she was trapped.
"Eli!" she was frantically trying to steady her breaths.
"hmm?" he mumbled back.
"stop it."
stop what? he asked of her in her mind.
"this! whatever your doing. let go of me.. i cant deal.. stop. just stop okay. please."
he took a step back and looked at her. his gaze was piercing. this okay? he asked.
she answered by sliding across from him and then squeezing her eyes shut she sank down onto the floor, leaning heavily against the wall. her fists clenched and then unclenched.
