chapter seven

after four agonisingly long hours, eli finally started to come round- much to rocsi's relief his bullet wound was also in the process of healing; almost 2/3rds of the wound had closed up. it had definitely stopped bleeding and his breaths weren't as shallow.

eli groaned and shifted moving and arm over his eyes.

"eli," rox whispered desperately. "what happened?"

her words were like a wake- up call for him and he jolted up, previous events flooding back to his mind.

"shit !"

"eli ! tell me please, I'm going crazy here." she begged.

"William knows. he knows that I've been in contact with a witch- he doesn't know that its you though. he could smell your power on me when i went back. he went ballistic. he thinks I'm rebelling against him. he thinks i want to dominate him or something. he wants to me to hand you over. if i don't he's gonna kill me. he gave me 48 hours to decide what i want to do. the bullet wound is a warning."

"oh God !" she whispered. she was gonna die. he was gonna hand her over. she wanted to kill herself as she realised that she'd actually come to trust eli once again, somehow, between kidnapping her and looking after her here in Grenoble she had come to trust eli to keep her safe. and he was gonna betray her once more.

she laughed humorlessly. why had she expected anything else?? why was she surprised? everyone in her life had let her down sooner or later, so why had she expected anything else from eli? he was the one person who she'd trusted and he'd broken her heart- not once but twice. and know he was gonna break her heart again! she should have known not to let himback in again but this time he had crept up behind her defenses so sneakily that she hadn't realised until it was too late.

life sucked.

suddenly, she felt eli shaking almost roughly. she knew he was saying something to her but she couldn'tmake out the words.

her ears were ringing and she was feeling dizzy. her lungs were burning for oxygen but she couldn't remember how to breathe. she saw black dots in front of her eyes and abruptly eli stopped shaking her. instead, he pushed her onto the bed. her back was against the sheets and she could feel the warmth of where his body had once laid.

what is he doing? she thought as he tilted her chin up so her airways were open and put his mouth over hers giving her CPR.

oxygen flew into her lungs and she gasped drawing in more. it felt like heaven being able to breathe again.

eli pulled away when he was sure that roxsi could breathe by herself and wouldn't suffocate/ hyperventilate again.

a few minutes later, after roxci's breaths grew less and less rugged, eli spoke;

"you OK?"

she nodded her head once and gingerly sat up leaning her back against the headboard and drawing her knees to her chest. she drew in a weak breath and decided to get it over with. the was no point in prolonging the moment- it would only crush her even more.

keeping her face carefully blank, she drew out a spliff and her lighter. she needed something to numb her- to keep the feelings at bay. she popped one end of the spliff in her mouth and said; "well, take me to him already."

several different emotions- confusion, shock, annoyance, sadness, fury and rage-  passed his face until he finally yelled out; "what ?!"

she flinched refusing to make eye contact with himeven when he grabbed her chin, pulled her face up and tore the spliff from her mouth trying to force her to look at him.

"ROXANNE ELIZABETH JHONSON! look at me RIGHT NOW !!" when she still refused to make contact he pulled her face to him-

"dont you dare !" she finally spoke. but he moved even closer to her.

"i swear to God, you kiss me and i will kill you. back off- now." she added.

but he simply ignored her and crushed his lips to hers putting in everything he felt to try and explain to her that she was the world to him- his world, his universe.

rocsi shut her eyes tight and focused on trying not to kiss him back.

but he wouldn't let up and she knew she would give in any moment now...

and just when she was about to give in he pulled away.

you really don't get it do you?!he whispered into her mind. she could feel his anger seeping through his words and that seriously pissed her off.

"no, you don't get it." she shouted. " you are the only person Iveever let meself trust, you are the only person who has the power to hurt me and you are the onlyperson who has truly hurt me not once but twice and for what? because your a vampire??  we could have worked it out y'know but no! its all about you isn't it?! and to top it all off your going to break my heart AGAIN. so what now, you think that you can just kiss me and everything will be all fine and fucking dandy. well guess what?! its NOT. so stop acting like you fucking care because you don't. you never have and you never will. so just take me your William and kill me already cause i just cant take it anymore!" she broke off sobbing her heart out."

"that's what you think?" he yelled back. "I FUCKING LOVE YOU YOU STUPID BEAUTIFUL GIRL ! ever since that day on that beach when i first laid my eyes on you i have loved you. do you remember? you were so high and just quietly lying on the sand staring at the stars in the sky. when i came and sat down near to you, you looked at me and told me that i was the most beautiful boy you'd ever seen in the whole wide world. when i told you that i could rock your world, you smiled and told me 'maybe so, but you'll break my heart afterwards, just like everyone else'.

"you looked so fragile and messed up but still so so beautiful and i remember thinking that if this this girl ever becomes mine ill do everything to keep her safe and loved and ill make sure that no one ever hurts her.

"and yeah i have fucked up OK but never intentionally & i genuinely thought i was doing the right thing when i left you after becoming a vamp. so i am sorry, so very sorry that i keep breaking your heart and i understand that you can't forgive me but if you think that I'm just going to hand you over to William the you are WRONG- so wrong. i told you that i could rock your world but really you've rocked my world and there is no way in hell that I'm gonna let anyone- anyone hurt you let alone kill you."
