After my last class of the day ends I stop by Coffee Bean, one of the coffee shops on campus, to get an icetea before I walk back to the dorm. It really is warm today and I'm happy I took a pair of thin capri pants on and a loose top.
As I stand in line to order I look around and spot Shawns stepbrother in the corner with some friends. I can't disagree with Gracie, he is very good looking. Though in my opinion, his hair is a little bit too long. Looks like he needs a haircut. Or maybe that's a popular hairstyle that I just don't understand. Who know what's in style here in LA.
I do agree to the muscular arms he has, he must be training like a maniac to have those. Probably spends all his time in the gym. He does look a bit down to be honest. His friends seem happy and smiling but he looks gloomy. Suddenly his eyes lock with mine and I'm not fast enough to look away. Feeling my cheeks heat a little. Thankfully it's my time to order. As I'm waiting for the icetea I look at the other side of the coffee shop, trying to seem like it was just a coincidence that I had looked at him.
I'm happy when I get my tea and can leave. The cold icetea feels good in the heat.
Two days done here at this new school and I'm really liking my courses so far. I have some reading to do, but I like to do that in the evening, so going to the beach sounds like a perfect thing to do today. Taking a swim would do my overheated body good.
As I come close to our dorm I throw my empty cup in a trashcan before going in. Cat is already there, dressed in swimwear and a purple dress above it.
"Hey." I say as I get inside and put my bag down on my desk chair.
"Hi! You ready to go to the beach?" She smiles brightly at me. I remember her enthusiastically raving about the beach the first time we met a couple of days ago.
"I need to change first, but then I'm good to go." I tell her and walk over to my dresser to fetch my bikini.
"Perfect. We're picking Megan and Nora up on the way." She says as she stares at her phone.
I go to the bathroom to change into bikini, shorts and a tank top. Back in the room I pack a bag with a towel, a book and sunscreen.
"Can we stop on the way?" I ask Cat who sits on her bed. "I need a bottle of water and maybe some snacks." I close my bag.
"Of course. I need snacks too." She stands up and we're both ready.
We pick up the girls at their dorm on the other side of campus before we go to the supermarket. I can tell that they are all very excited. Cat can't stop talking.
"Wow, you talk a lot." I exclaim when we're in the car again. Making Megan snicker.
"I've been stuck in lecture all day, I'm not allowed to talk that much there." Cat retort with a smile.
"Remind me to bring earplugs next time." I smirk at her, making her laugh.
"Will do. I'll buy you a pink pair." She says as she turn the car off the highway. "Hey Nora, how was the date you went on?" She ask looking in the rearview mirror at Nora who sits behind her.
"Nothing to mention. He was such a bore." she wrinkles her small nose. "I don't understand where all the good guys are?" She questions.
"I don't think they exist." Cat say and I laugh. "We're here." She sings as she parks the car in the parking lot. "This is Will Rogers Beach." she exclaim as we've get out, motioning with her arms towards the beach. The sand is a perfect beige color. I pull my flip-flops off and walk barefoot on the hot sand.
I follow the girls as they walk towards the ocean. I can see in the distance where they're heading, because I see Shawn standing and flexing beside a couple of people sitting around him in the sand. I wrinkle my nose a little, I wish I hadn't seen that. I look at the sand as we walk up to the others and we stop farthest away from him. We're a big bunch of people here, some I've never seen before.
