Abir carried mishti over the threshold, where he had a carpet of white roses awaiting her.
"Now I don't want you to think I'm super cheesy extremely cliche husband so you can decide if you want to go through these traditions of the Kalash and all?" He sheepishly admitted. Mishti laughed and pulled his cheeks and said, "tum chahte toh main sab karungi. Lekin abir, I want to record, both our first steps as husband and wife in our house. Thik hai?" Mishti said and leaned on to Abir's shoulders. Abir put his arm around her waist and laughed. Mishti then proceeded to knock down the Kalash with her foot and then Abir and mishti both stepped into the red water and steeped into their house together. As soon as they were inside, Abir scooped mishti up in his arms and took her towards their bedroom. Mishti squealed in his arms and Abir said, "are you ready for your surprise mishti?" Abir asked. Mishti nodded her head like an over excited child and Abir couldn't help himself and kissed her cheek and said, "apne dil ko thaam lo!" And opened the door to their room and the lights switched on instantly. Mishti gasped at the sight before her eyes. All of this? For her. She whispered, "a..Abir..wow!" And then became speechless again.
The room was painted in shades of blue and the bed was all white, decorated with white rose petals. But that's not what caught mishti's eyes. On one side of the room, there was a large book shelf, in the shapes of the initials, A and M. Similar to one that was in mishti's room. Abir then walked in and took her to the other side of the room, where there was box like thing, that was covered with a blue cloth along with what looked like a painting. One room of the wall, was decorated with the many pictures that they had together, including the ones from the wedding and below each picture was the date of the memory captured. "Yeh, hamari ab tak ki journey hai mishti. And I hope to live a life so beautiful and memorable that all the other walls of this very room are adorned by various pictures." He said. Mishti was now crying.
"Chalo, let me show you that" and Abir took her to the box and the painting. There was a small love seat facing the coffee table that held the box. Abir made mishti sit down on the love seat, kneeled down next to her and asked her to remove the cloth. Underneath the cloth was a doll house. An actual replica of the very house they were currently in. "Mishti, I know ki bade papa jab tumhe ghar lekar aaye the, tab unhone tumhe ek doll house diya tha. Toh aaj mein bhi tumhe ek doll house de raha hoon. Yeh ghar tumhara hai. Sirf tumhara aur humare family ka. Yahan koi tumhe nahi kahega ki this family is not yours. Yahan tumhari family broken nahi hai. Jitna yeh ghar tumhara hai, utne hi yeh log tumhare hai. Main tumhara hoon. And I want you to accept not only me, but this house too. Because only with you, is this house, a home. Our home." He whispered and kissed mishti's hand. Mishti was left speechless and all she could do was hug Abir. Abir pulled away from the embrace a while later and said, "now remove the cloth from this painting." He said. Mishti removed the cloth. And underneath was the painting. Her painting. Except this time, she had glasses and Abir was standing next to her. Smiling down at her. "Mishti I want you to know that, main ek painting main bhi tumhe akela nahi chodunga toh real life mein toh mein tumse alag ho hi nahi sakta. And I'll keep reassuring you about this everyday. And so will this painting mishti. I love you mishti. And I always will." He promised. Mishti cried and said, "oh my god Abir. I love you too. So much. I literally have no words to express what's going on in my heart right now." She admitted. Abir said nothing and carried her to the bed and placed her in the middle of it and said, "close your eyes, love." Mishti closed her eyes and opened them when Abir asked her to open them. But this time, there was a white canopy around the bed. "Look up!" He said. And when mishti looked up, the colourful origami bird hanging that mishti had made for Abir was there. Exactly in the centre of the canopy. Mishti got up and ran into Abir's arms. "Oh Abir. Thank you so much. Thank you for making me feel so loved and so special. Thank you." She cried. Abir caressed the back of her head and said, "this is just the beginning of the rest of our lives baby. Day one. And I will try my hardest to make each day better than the last." He promised.
"I have a gift for you too abir." Abir looked puzzled so Mishti continued and said, "tumhe Kya kaha? Nannu sirf tumhara dost hai? He's my friend first." She teased. She the said, "tumhari watch nikalo and turn it around." Abir did the same and there was an engraving done that said, "always within your reach. M" Abir smiled and hugged Mishti to his chest. "Thank you." He smiled. Mishti then led him to the cupboard in the room where she opened it, and there was a brand new back pack. "Abir, whenever you feel like going away and taking a break, I'll be with you. Next to you. You'll never have to be alone again, my love. I don't want this marriage to steal your freedom. Instead I want this marriage to provide you constant support and companionship Abir." She said. Abir couldn't believe how thoughtful his wife was. Yes, his wife. His companion. He brought Mishti's hand closer to his mouth and placed a kiss on it and said, "you didn't ask me why didn't I make you wear the bracelet?" He asked. Mishti had forgotten about it but nodded at him to continue. He said, "tonight, I want to be the closest to your heart Mishti. But tomorrow onwards I don't want this marriage to wear you down, to choke you with responsibilities around your neck. Instead I want this marriage to give you all the freedom and space you want to do whatever you want. I want this to be the easiest and the happiest part of your life Mishti. Something so convenient that it doesn't confine you, instead adds beauty to your life just as a bracelet does." And helped Mishti wear the bracelet around her wrist. He had even added two charms with their initials but because the lighting was dim, Mishti didn't notice them.Abir then took her hand, and walked towards the bed. He slowly sat down and removed the pins from the dupatta on her forehead and the dupatta fell free. Leaving her only in the skirt and the top. He slowly took Mishti's hand and started kissing from her fingers to her shoulder. He placed a warm kiss on her neck. And cupped her face and asked, "may I?" Instead of answering him, Mishti leaned forward and touched her lips to his. Sealing all their vows and promises. Abir then went forward and united them in every sense of the word and that's how Mishti and abir, united and became MishBir.
