Lydia's POV
"...Please."
I hear a distant but familiar voice beg. I feel a hand holding mine, and I try to squeeze it. Anything to let them know I can hear them. But my entire body is numb. I fight to open my eyelids, but it's like they are glued shut. Theres nothing I can do but lay here. Am i dead? Is that what's happening? I think to myself and I jump when a voice echoes 11through my head. A voice I recognise perfectly.
"Not exactly."
She says and I frown, my eyes darting around behind my eyelids. Quin? I ask hopefully.
"In the flesh. Well...not exactly. After all, i AM dead."
She chuckles and suddenly a bright white light appears. As if by magic, my eyes peel open, but what I see shocks me. In front of me stands my best friend, looking fully alive and well. My eyes dart around and I take in my surroundings.
"Why are we here?"
I ask as I notice we are in my old back garden. The house I grew up in with Dom and my parents.
"You tell me. We're in your subconscious."
She laughs and I frown.
"I'm not sure. Maybe it's because this is where I last saw you? All of our memories are here, In England."
I say and she nods.
"So...am I dead?"
I ask again and she shakes her head. "Your in bardo."
"What the hell is bardo?"
I ask and she shrugs.
"Kinda like a bus stop. You either get on the bus and ride it to the afterlife, or you miss the bus and go home."
"So...I'm dying?"
"No. Not yet. Your in a coma."
"How long?"
I ask and she frowns.
"6 days."
She says and I nod slowly.
"That voice I heard earlier...was it Matt?"
I ask and she nods.
"Hes very dedicated to you. Hasn't left since you go in here."
She grins and I smile.
"Do you think you guys will ever be a couple?"
She asks and i shrug.
"I suppose that depends on whether or not i see him again."
I frown and so does she.
"Follow me." She says walking towards the house. She stops at the large black gate that separated my house from hers.

"Hey, could you pass me that?"
"Sure. You must be the new neighbor's?"
"Yeah. My names Quinn. And you are?"
"Lydia."
The brunette new neighbor slips her hand between the bars of the gate and shakes the blonde girls hand.
"I can tell we'll be great friends."
She grins, before running of.

"Why did you show me that?"
I ask, whipping tears from my eyes. "You'll see."
She replies with a small smile.
