Matt's pov: "Awwwww!" "Mommy, is she Uncle Matt's girlfriend?" "Maybe not yet. But hopefully someday she will be." "Will you guys shut up?" I mumble opening my eyes, only to realise that I am cuddling Lydia. "Crap." I mumble trying to move slowly. She roles over and her eyes flutter open. As soon as she makes eye contact with me, her face turns red. "Good morning." Alex grins and she blushes a deeper shade of red. "Happy birthday Madds." I cheer, and she squealshugging me. "How about I go and get your presents?" I say and she nods. "We'll be right back." I say gently grabbing Lydia's arm. We walk upstairs and I notice she is still blushing, and hasn't said a word since she woke up. "Hey..." I whisper tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. "What's wrong?" I question and she shrugs. "I just...Ididn't mean to make you feel awkward or anything. I should have just left when I said-" "No. Listen, you didn't make me feel awkward in the slightest. I like your company." I tell her honestly and she smiles. "Now, how about I lend you my car. You can go home and get changed, then you can come back here after. Deal?" "Deal." She grins at me. I go into my cupboard and find her a hoodie. "Its march. Still quite cold out." I smile at her and she takes the hoodie, slipping it on. "Thank you." She smiles taking my keys and walking out my door.
Lydia's pov: After going home and getting changed , I rummage through my boxes until I find what I'm looking for. Perfect. I smile to myself and walk out the door. ------------- "Your back!" Maddie shouts when Matt opens the door. "I am. And...I bought your birthday present." I say and she gasps. "Your giving me a present?" "Ofcourse I am. It is your birthday after all. Right?" I chuckle and she smiles. "I told you not to buy her anything." Matt sighs as he sits down next to me. "I didn't." I grin, reaching into my bag. I pull out the gift carefully and maddie gives another very dramatic gasp. "Oh my gosh. That's so pretty." She says smiling.

"I seem to remember you mentioning you liked snow globes. Now this one is extra special, because I was given this snow globe when I turned 8 years old too. So it's old, and very precious. Which means, I need you to take extremely good care of it,okay?" "Who gave it to you?" She ask curiously and I smile sadly. "My best friend, Quinn Western." I say glancing at Matt, who has a shocked and confused expression on his face. "Why?" She asks again and I give her another smile. "She gave it to me because my brother had just told me that unicorns weren't real. And she gave this to me and she said 'why does it matter if they believe? If you believe, that's all that matters. Isn't it so much better to believe that something is there, even if you can't be certain? Because hoping that something exists, and risking disappointment, is better than not believing, not taking that chance, and never knowing it ever existed. And that's worse than the risk of disappointment, because you could be missing something that would change your life completely.' And I have lived by that my entire life. Why risk losing something all because I didn't believe. Believe in yourself, your family and your dreams. Okay?" I say, tears in my eyes. She hugs me tightly and says into my shoulder, "Thank you so much, Lydia." I hug her back and she pulls away. She turns the key underneath and soft music begins to play. I stand up and walk towards Matt's kitchen. I wipe my eyes and sigh, ignoring the urge to cry. "Lydia." Matt says and pulls me into a hug. "Are you okay?" "Yeah, I'm good." I smile sadly as he pulls away. "Why did you...?" "Quinn past away when she was 19. That was 7 years ago. I've had that snow globe 15 years. Having that snow globe has helped me through so much, but I don't need it. Because it isn't the snow globe that keeps me grounded. It's the memory of her. Quinn gave me that snow globe so that I wouldn't be afraid to dream. To take chances. And I hope, that is exactly what it will do for Maddie." "You, Lydia Sherwood, are an angel on earth."
