The next test was for Uma. There was a huge lake separating the 5 and the rock path they were supposed to take. Uma moved forward and used her powers to make the water rise and create a bridge. As soon as they set foot on the rock path, walls started building up from the ground forming a maze. Harry knew it was his time as he always carried his pocket watch and compass. The challenge became harder with each passing test. The maze was booby trapped so Harry teamed up with Mal on this one. He would guide them through the maze while Mal would have to analyse the environment and look for the hidden traps. Making sudden turns or movements could trigger blades flying right past them. Blades that seemed familiar to the knife the old woman had thrown at Mal. She picked one blade and studied it's details. They were the exact same marks. So that old lady was trying to warn them about the maze..
Harry managed to get everyone out of the maze. It was just after the 5 of them turned around that they saw how the maze was shifting its walls.
After days of walking cautiously, fearing that their lives were in danger at any moment, they decided to take a day off.
Mal was so stressed that she immediately went to sleep. This whole prophecy was consuming her energy. Harry joined his sister and Kida hubting while Uma stayed with Mal. She didn't want to leave her friend alone. She couldn't bare with what Mal was dealing with. She wanted to understand the mysteries of Atlantis. What happened before the sink? What was it like before? What will happen if Mal breaks the curse? She looked at her friend sleeping. She looked so peaceful but she knew better. Mal was carrying the fate of an entire civilization and her greatest desire of finding her father. She loved her with all her heart. She would do anything for her. That's when her Ember started glowing and almost burning her. She took it out and saw that it was holograming a scene. There were multiple voices screaming and yelling. She could hear herself screaming after Mal as she was heading into the darkness. Mal couldn't hear her and she couldn't breathe anymore. She was surrounded by the circle of fire as she heard the voices of her friends. She recognised the only male voice as Harry's as he was calling for the two girls but his yelling stopped after he heard another girl yell Kida's name. She guessed it was CJ. She was about to see more but the Ember was burning her hand and she threw it on the ground as it went out. Recalling the scene Uma realised that something was different from her initial dream. Her voice was calling for Mal. Mal was in a hypnosis but she heard Uma calling for her in the darkness. But it couldn't be her if she was standing in the fire circle. Could it?
Uma was visibly scared and she had to talk to someone. An hour and a half later, Harry, CJ and Kida came back with lots of food and wood for the fire. Uma felt that she was about to go insane so she took Harry by his hook and dragged him away where they could talk.
**What?** He was annoyed by the dragging but became concerned when he saw Uma shaking and on the verge of crying.
**Hey..what happened?**
He placed his hands on her shoulders.
**Harry...what if I will be the one that fails?**
**Huh?**
**The prophecy. The ember showed me my dream again. But this time...**
She paused. **This time I was the one calling for Mal into the darkness.**
He remained silent as he was trying to process things.
**But you were in the fire circle.**
**I was still. But when Mal was going there I could hear someone calling for her. It was my voice.**
Harry looked down but Uma took his hand.
**What if I fail to protect her and she will die because of me?**
**You won't fail.**
**How do you know that?** A few tears started streaming down her face.
He sighed.
**The prophecy is not about you. It's about my sister.**
**What?? How do you know?**
**When I got my Ember. It showed me the continuation of our dreams. You in the circle of fire. Mal going into the darkness. Kida was walking on water and CJ was yelling after her. When I reached her she said that she failed.**
**Why didn't you tell us?**
**I thought that if CJ knew about this, things might change their course. Something tells me that this is how it's supposed to happen. And not the prophecy.**
Their talk was interrupted by Bell. She followed them and heard the entire conversation. Bell meowed, giving them the signal that it was time to head back to the camp. On their way back they were trying to figure out what phrase of the scroll fit each one of them.
One shall fail. One shall survive. One shall rule. One shall rise. One shall use their voice.
So far they knew that CJ would fail. They thought that the dream was a clue as that Uma will use her voice, Kida will rule and Harry and Mal were left with surviving and rising. They again remembered the dream and thought that Mal will rise and Harry would survive, but Bell knew better. She knew exactly what part each of them will take. She was no ordinary cat and Mal knew it. What none of them knew is that a soul is trapped in Bell's body. One that saw the future and is aware of what's coming. She swore to protect her beloved Mal.
