Chapter 5- One Last Dance

A few weeks later...
**But father..**
**ENOUGH!** Kida took a step back but quickly opposed.
**I am not letting you use them like that! None of them deserve this.**
**I know you care about her..maybe a bit too much. You consider her a sister, don't you?!**
**Yes.**
**Then as soon as she succeeds, you'll have her as your sister.**
**But she'll lose the one she already has. And I won't let you ruin what they have!** Kida's tattoo was glowing the same bright blue light.
**And you won't ruin what I'm trying to protect! I've waited decades for her. I need her to unleash the darkness within and save us all!**
**By taking away everything she has?!?** A power wave emerged from Kida as her father was thrown into the wall.
**You are not hurting her!**
**And you are not opposing me!** He ripped her necklace and used his staff to put her to sleep.
**Tonight, Mal will have one last dance..** He felt regret for hurting his daughter and the girl whom they both liked, but he knew what was better for Atlantis and a king must make sacrifices for his kingdom.

**Uma, you look gorgeous!** Mal said as she was helping CJ with the last details while Uma was looking in the mirror.
**You really think that?** In the past weeks her self esteem has dropped really low. Mal came behind her, put her arms around her as her chin rested on her shoulder.
**You are beautiful!** CJ came from behind as well and both of them kissed Uma on the cheeks. This made her smile but it also made her hear beat faster.
**Thank you!**
**No worries. Maybe tonight you'll find 'the one'.** CJ toyed around with the accessories Mal pulled out for her.
**I don't think so. I won't be dancing with anyone anyway.**
**I will dance with you, girl!** Mal picked up her earrings and checked herself in the mirror.
**Harry will definitely invite you..** She didn't show it, but it hurt her. She couldn't understand what was happening to her. She was so happy for them and now she's having doubts.
**Yes, he will. And I will dance with him, but I will save one dance for you.** She smiled at her friend but she noticed something in her eyes. **Uhh..CJ? Can you please go and check on Kida? See if her majesty is ready?** Mal showed her wicked smile as she winked.
**Of course! See ya, girls.**
CJ left the room. It was now the two of them. Mal feared that something wasn't right with her friend.
**Are you going to tell me what is bothering you?**
**What do you mean?**
**You've been in deep though for 5 weeks now and everytime I ask, you avoid talking to me. I barely saw you these weeks..**
**I was out with CJ.**
**You know what I mean. You talk to Harry some times but not with me. Did I do something?**
**No..**
**Then what is going on with you?! You used to be confident, full of life. And now?! Now I can barely hear you from how low your voice is.**
**I'm sorry.**
**Uma..Please tell me what's happening so I can help.**
///Leave her and come see me. We need to talk/// - Uma heard Kida's father talk to her. He has watched the whole scene from his place. For whatever reason. She knew she had to go.
**I have to go. I promise I will tell you everything.** And so, Uma left, leaving Mal alone in her room.

**What did you want to talk about?!**
**You and Mal. You two don't have a future together.**
**How do you-**
**I have been watching you ever since you came here. You have to understand. Mal is our Saviour. She is bound to break our spell and save everyone. She has a future planned. You have to let her fulfil her destiny.**
**What are you saying?**
**You need to end your friendship. She has someone else to love. She doesn't need you.** His words had a powerful effect on her. They broke her because she knew he was right. Mal had always been appreciated for her qualities whereas Uma wasn't good enough for her. She left the place crying her eyes out and she bumped into CJ.
**Yo! What's up with you?! What happened?!!!**
**Nothing. Did you find Kida?** She tried her best to conceal her emotions and change the subject but CJ wasn't leaving her like this. The party was about to start so they went together. CJ couldn't find Kida and she was really concerned at this point. She hoped she'd already be there but that wasn't the case. They met up with Mal and Harry who were chatting near the buffet. A couple hours later the sun was setting and the first slow song began. Harry invited Mal and after catching a quick glimpse of Uma, took his hand and began dancing. The song was beautiful and all of the lights were placed on the couple. Harry raised Mal up, let her down slowly and held her close. CJ noticed the looks Uma gave the two and thought she understood what was happening.
**Are you in love with my brother?**
**Not him.** Uma said and quickly realised as CJ took her by the arm and made her look at her.
**Mal?!**
Uma was quiet.
**I don't know what to say..** CJ didn't know how to approach the sensitive subject bht at least she now understands why Uma distanced herself from the couple in the last weeks.
**Nothing. There won't be anything anyway.**
The song ended with Mal in Harry's arms. She felt amazing. But little did she know that it was going to be the last dance she'll have with him as things began to go south.
Another song played and Mal wanted to keep her promise so she invited Uma to dance with her. She didn't want to, but the moment she looked at Mal, she couldn't reject her. Harry invited his sister and she happily accepted to have her first dance with him. Her whole life, she looked up to her brother and she missed him a lot after the incident. She was really happy to have him close to her again. The two of them, dancing together.
**I have missed you.** She said and he looked at her and held her close, not letting her go.
**I have missed you too, little devil.**
**Hey!** She smacked his arm and he chuckled.
**Dork.**
**What was that?! I can't hear you. You're too small.**
**Oh my God you're an idiot.**
**Cut it. Oh wait. You're already too short to cut.** He was laughing loudly at this point and it made his sister laugh as well. They love each other and they definitely love teasing each other.
As for Mal and Uma.. Uma didn't want to make eye contact with Mal but was forced to as Mal started again asking questions. It was the perfect time for the Ruler of Atlantis to start his plan. Uma snapped.
**Will you leave me be already?! I'm sick of all these questions! Give me a damn break!**
Everyone was looking at them. Mal wasn't going to let her go this time.
**I am your friend and I care for you! I want to help you!**
**I don't want your help! I think it's better for us to end things here.**
**WHAT?! What the bloody hell is wrong with you?**
Uma wanted to leave but Mal grabbed her.
**You do not walk away from me like that!**
**Watch me.**
Uma left and Mal stayed in the middle of the scene. Kida managed to wake up and take her necklace back but by the time she reached the party, Uma was gone.
**Oh no..No!**
**Kida!** CJ went up to her. **I was worried sick..where have you been??**
**She didn't mean what she said.**Harry grabbed Mal by her arm. CJ informed Kida of what happened and she told the people to continue the party.
With Uma gone, and the fight she had with Mal, something terrible was about to happen.
**It's the beginning of the end.** Kida concluded.
