After Cain broke the ice, Kelly just stood there, She didn't say anything. His dad hurried her to grab her bags, so they could go up to their hotel room. Cain's emotions were fizzing.
(Should I go up to her and talk to her about why she's here? I'm curious. Is it a good idea though? Maybe I should just let her be.)
As he's thinking they leave for the hotel, so the decision is out of his hands. He scoffs and starts heading back to the dorm. He's slowly getting more worked up, and irritable to the point that he gets annoyed by the smallest of things like a guy who didn't hold the door for him and a girl asking people to sign her petition. He sees Bailey trying to get into her room as he's walking towards his room. Bailey notices her.
Bailey: Oh Cain! This damn door is stuck could you help me open it please?
Cain: *reluctantly* Yeah, sure.
He grabs the doorknob and starts twisting it and pushing it, but it doesn't budge. So he hits the door with his shoulder and the door slams open. It's still intact, so it was probably just stuck on something.
Bailey: Thank you! I don't know what would've happened if a heroic knight didn't come to save the day. *winks*
Cain without any reaction to the funny remark turns around and heads for his room, but Bailey stops her.
Bailey: Hey, do you wanna chill and talk for a bit?
Cain: No, I'm not really in the mood right now. Maybe some other day.
He tries to go around Bailey but she stops him once again.
Bailey: When is that other day?
Cain: (For fuck's sake) Look, I don't know, we'll figure something out.
Bailey: Is there something wrong?
Cain: No, I just want to get to my room because I'm tired.
Bailey: There's something wrong, I can tell.
Cain: Good for you. Please can I go now?
He goes around her and he's at his room, Cain gets the key out of his pocket, but Bailey blocks the door. They are standing almost body to body.
Bailey: I won't move until you tell me what's up with you.
Cain could just grab her and move her out of the way, but that's not like him.
Cain: Do we have to do this now? We've only just met today.
Bailey: And that means you can't tell me what's bothering you? Is it me?
Cain: Right now yes. But if we look at the bigger picture, no it's not you that's bothering me.
Bailey: Come on you can tell me. You can trust me.
Cain: No I can't. I've learnt the hard way. *looks Bailey dead in the eyes and raises his voice* If you want to stay friends and if you want me to trust you once, then let me give you an advice. Get the fuck out of they way and LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!
Bailey is rattled and shook by the response. She starts shaking and gets out of the way. Cain looks at her, but he doesn't say anything, he just goes into his room and slams the door behind him. Puts down his stuff then washes his face. He looks in the mirror and he sees that he's shaking. He's not used to feeling emotions that are this intense. He was sort of numb after his friendship ended with Kelly. She was really important to him. He was sort of empty after it happened. He realises what he had said to Bailey. He starts feeling regret which means he started caring about her.
(I should apologise, that was really unnecessary. Goddamnit... I broke my own rule. I started caring again. I should just tell her that it won't work out. But I can't do it. What kind of person would I be? But I have to tell her that she's not my friend. For my sake. I'll be fine alone. I have been fine for the last year. Tomorrow I'm gonna tell her that it won't work out. Simple as that. Or something like, I'm not a good friend so she won't feel bad. Yes. That's what I'm gonna do.)
He studied for 3 hours. But he couldn't fully concentrate. He felt weird about Kelly being back in his life. Plus he felt regret because he hurt Bailey. He considered giving, trusting someone another chance. But he's really uncomfortable about that idea.
It was 6:32 PM. He was sitting at his computer browsing the internet when he got an e-mail.
It was from a certain Diana Cross. He opened it and it said that Richter wants to see him this Thursday at 3:30 PM. Cain was happy about this. Richter is the country's best psychologist. He only accepts patients if they are actually interesting. He was excited to meet Richter. Maybe he could help him answer his questions about himself and the world. He answered back saying that he will be there.
