Kelly snaps out of thinking, she's crying. She lied to Cain, she came here because of the school, but mainly because of Cain, so she could ask for forgiveness. She was wrong when she believed that she's going to be fine without Cain. She wipes her eyes, stands up then goes to get her stuff from the car, so she can take it up to her room.
Cain's not actually angry, but he still feels betrayed by Kelly. He's ready to forgive. After the break he decides, it's better to start again with a clean slate. Before he goes into his room, he glances at Bailey's room. He wants to give her some space, before talking to her again, so he doesn't knock, she's probably not even back yet.
(It's 1 PM already. Well I better take a shower and change before 3 PM.)
He takes a long shower. He has a long thinking session about what he should do. He's gonna forgive Kelly, maybe salvage a friendship out of it, give Bailey as much time as she needs before they speak again and he'll be nicer to Mickey, he'll go to parties even though he kind of hates them.
By the time he got changed it was 2:32 PM. So he looks for Kelly on Facebook, so he could ask where she wants to meet. He finds her and writes her a message. Five minutes later he gets a reply. She wants to meet at a French cafe not far from the school called Mieux, which means better in French. He arrives at the cafe, goes in and sits down inside. The waiter comes and asks what he would like. He orders a hot chocolate, because it's unusually cold. Kelly arrives 10 minutes late. She comes in looks around spots Cain then goes to sit down.
Kelly: Sorry I'm late, I had a lot of things to sort out.
Cain: No problem.
The waiter arrives with Cain's drink, and he asks what she would like to drink. She asks for hot chocolate too.
Kelly: So I have a few things that I need to admit. These things are going to shed light on why I did what I did.
Cain: Alright.
Kelly: *in a shaking voice* Then maybe you'll be able to forgive me.
Cain: We'll see.
Kelly: But first. What happened to you after? Are you... okay?
Cain: *scoffs* We could say that yeah. After it happened I sort of locked myself away from everyone. I was hurt and I felt lethargic all the time. I simply couldn't make any real friends up until now.
Kelly: *nervously* Who's the lucky person?
Cain: Her name is Bailey.
Kelly frowns and looks down.
Cain: Come on, you didn't expect me to stay miserable while hoping you would change your mind. I quite honestly hated you for some time. I probably wouldn't even be here if I hadn't decided to move on.
Kelly: No of course I didn't. It's just...
Kelly doesn't finish.
Cain: It's just what?
Kelly: Nothing. So you're starting to pull yourself together.
Cain: I guess.
Silence sets in when the waiter brings Kelly her hot chocolate. They look at each other. They are a mistery to each other. Neither of them know what the other is playing at.
Cain: I see you dyed your hair. It suits you.
Kelly: *blushes* Thanks.
Cain nods.
Cain: So, what happened to you then? I think your side will be a lot more interesting. *raises his eyebrows and sips his drink*
Kelly: Well I have to admit I was wrong. I felt alone without you, I felt as if no one can truly understand me. Wayne wasn't my best friend, he was barely my friend. So when I chased you away, after a while I started hating myself.
Cain cuts in.
Cain: Rightly so.
That remark hurt her.
Kelly: Yeah... So I started thinking about ways to fix it and I realised that I might not be able to find a solution. I fucked up soooo bad. I honestly regret chasing you away. I shouldn't have done that. I hurt you, but not just in an ordinary way, I stabbed you in the back. I'm a horrible person, so I can understand if you won't forgive me.
They both finish their hot chocolates.
Cain: Hmm... I feel like there's still more to it. Am I wrong?
Kelly: There is still more to it yeah.
Cain nods
Cain: Want to tell it outside?
Kelly is confused.
Kelly: Why would I...
Cain: I feel like it's going to make you cry and crying inside might be a bit uncomfortable.
Kelly knows he's quite mindful. But she didn't really expect it. She feels like he will forgive her, so her eyes lit up with hope.
Kelly: That's actually a great idea.
Kelly reaches for her wallet to pay.
Cain: You don't have to, I got it.
He puts the money down on the table, then looks at Kelly. She's smiling.
Cain: Well, let's go then.
