I Wanted to See Where This Would Go

There was something not quite right about the air in Chicago. Unbeknownst to the Saltzman twins and Hope Mikaelson, there was conflict among the witches in Chicago at the time of their arrival.

In hopes of leading all of the witches out of the city, a spell released hallucinogens through fog that infiltrated the lungs of witches throughout the city. The fog affected each of them differently. To some it made them susceptible to suggestion and determined to fulfill a deep desire. To others, it made them extremely argumentative. Unfortunately for the Saltzman twins and Hope Mikaelson, they happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Josie, the more you talk, the more I want to blow my brains out," Lizzie Saltzman said with a venomous tone towards her twin.

In response to her sister's spitefulness, Josie let out an angered scoff and said, "That's rich coming from a blonde-headed word vomiting machine."

Lizzie gasped in shock as she stormed off in one direction while Josie rolled her eyes and headed in the other.

Jacob and Stefan watched the two dumbfounded. The two sisters had been getting along so well before they stepped outside of the van.

Deciding not to leave the angered twins alone, Jacob said, "I'll take Josie, you take Lizzie."

The two cousins nodded at each other in confirmation of their plan and chased after the Saltzman twins while forgetting about the fifth person in their road trip group. They had left Hope Mikaelson alone on the Salvatore School van.

As the young Mikaelson girl stepped out of the car, she noticed that her four classmates had left her alone—which she truly did not mind. Being stuck in the van with them for the amount of time that she did was more than enough socializing than she needed.

"I'm really embracing the 'hybrid loner' nickname", she thought to herself.

Unfortunately for Hope, her happy mindset was quickly diminished after an inhale of the fog that surrounded the city. In an instant, Hope had been consumed by the target of the fog which sent her on her way to confront a certain siphon witch.

In Stefan Salvatore Jr's car, borrowed by Penelope and Valencia, the young Salvatore siphoner felt uneasy about their location. Why would Penelope bring her to the exact place where she had that vision just a few nights ago?

-flashback-

Valencia was awoken from her nap by the GPS saying, "You have arrived at your destination".

Looking up and taking in her surroundings, a pit-like feeling started forming in the Salvatore girl's stomach as she realized where they were.

Panicked, the Salvatore girl questioned, "What the hell are we doing here?"

Penelope didn't answer the question and instead formed a smug smile on her face as she said, "Welcome back to Chicago, Miss Valencia"

-flashback end-

Confused by Penelope's comment, Valencia decided to question what the Park girl meant.

"Hey, Penelope?"

Without looking away from the road in front of her, Penelope continued driving as she responded, "Mhmm"

"What exactly did you mean when you said 'Welcome back to Chicago'?"

Penelope's face contorted into one of confusion. Continuing her drive, Penelope responded, "I don't know what you're talking about, Cia."

It was at this moment that Valencia realized that something was wrong.
