You want me to be silent?
Like the subtle nodding of a head
Trapped between wires
Blocking her ears
Listening to the sound
Of background noises
She hums to whispering
Of desperate conversation
She taps to a pen rattling
When it dropped out of
A tense hand
She rocks her head to
Busy fingers typing
a 1500-word essay
Due tomorrow
But they'd only just started
Her voice sings along
To the screaming
In my head
Your love outlasts the storm-
La la la
Faster, faster. Not good enough-
