February 14, Valentine’s Day, I woke up to rose pedals on the floor. They created a thin path leading out the bedroom door and down the hallway. They were white rose pedals that looked to have been dipped in blood red paint. I followed the pedals from my room into the front room. There was a note that read ‘Follow the pedals for they might just lead you to better places that can change your life! Put these on.’ The note was sitting on top of my jacket and shoes. I put them on and followed the pedals all the way out to the back porch. There were plates sitting neatly across the table from each other. The table was covered with a red table cloth. How everything was set up made it look like I was in a fancy restaurant. “Good morning beautiful!” Toby said from behind me. I quickly turned around, for some reason I had been startled by his actions.

“I didn’t think you remembered.” I admitted.

“Of course I remembered. What kind of person forgets about Valentine’s Day?”

“Well possibly the kind that hasn’t been in society for the past 6 years.” I joked.

He pulled out a seat for me and smiled. “Make yourself comfortable. I’ll be right back.” He said as he walked back into the house. When he came back he had a pan with French toast. He put a slice on my plate then a slice on his. He had also brought out a bowl of cut strawberries and a can of whipped cream. He sat down and I began to put strawberries on my toast.

“Oh my God Toby this is good. Where did you get the idea of using corn flakes to make the French toast crunchy? I asked.

“Actually my sister used to make it.” He looked down at his food.

“You really didn’t have to do this.”

“No. I wanted to enjoy sharing my sister’s recipe with you. I’ve been planning it for a while.” He looked up and smiled at me. After we were done eating he handed me an envelope.

“What’s this? You didn’t rob a bank did you?” I laughed.

“Nah, I haven’t been able to plan that yet.” He joked. I opened the envelope to find two pieces of paper laying inside of it. I pulled them out and read the words that were printed on them. I almost fainted when I found out that they were tickets. Concert tickets to Get Scared.

“Oh my God are you serious!” I jumped up and ran over to him to give him a hug. “When is this?”

“Tonight.” He said with a smile. I was so excited. Toby had gotten us concert tickets to my favorite band. “Oh and one more thing.” He said pulling out a small round white box with a red bow on it. I was mesmerized. I was stuck wondering what was inside. I sat down and took the box and began to open it. I was so mesmerized by the box that I hadn’t noticed Toby get down on one knee beside me.

My eyes widened. “OH MY GOD!” I squilled. Inside the box was the most beautiful engagement ring I had ever seen.

“Annabell Jane Tailor, May I have the honor of marrying the most amazing women in the world.” I was speechless. I made out the one word that mattered most to the both of us at that moment.

“Y-yes!” He took the ring from the box and slid it into place on my left hand. I was so amazed at how he had planned all of this out. I truly had the most romantic, lovable guy anyone could ever want.
