“Yeah I’ll tell him. Okay thanks Lloyd. I’ll talk to you later.” I hung up the phone and went to find Toby. It was two weeks till the wedding, 4 months after Toby purposed to me. We were always running around trying to get things done. I think Toby found out that planning a wedding takes way more work and socializing than he intended. “Toby?” I yelled into the other room.
“Yeah?” He yelled back.
“I just got off the phone with Lloyd, he said that they are going to be in town tomorrow and were planning on visiting.”
“Oh that’s nice.”
‘Yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to barbecue or something like that.”
“Yeah, I guess. I mean it’s not every day you become best friends with your favorite band at a concert and then they end up coming over to visit every couple months!” He said annoyed. I could tell something was bothering him. I walked into the room bedroom. He had put in the desk from his cabin in the corner of my room. He was always sitting there doing something, anything from writing to cutting things with his hatchets.
“Hey don’t let the wedding get in the way of everything else. Now what’s wrong?”
"I don’t know, it’s just so much stressful. I usually go out and cut someone’s head off and use it for target practice when I’m stressed, but I don’t want to do that. You’ve changed something inside me. When I’m with you I feel something I’ve never felt before. Something that’s addicting. I’m afraid to do anything that could possibly let me lose you.” I could see the fear and guilt in his eyes. He had this weight on his shoulders that he usually knew how to get rid of. I walked over to the desk and hugged him.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize how difficult all this was for you.” I admitted. “It will be okay though, because as long as we are together, we will be able to get through anything and everything.” We looked into each other’s eyes and I leaned in to kiss him. We were so into each other’s lips that we didn’t hear anybody walk into the house or the room.
“Hey love birds! Sorry I know I said we were coming over tomorrow but then Nick had forgotten to book a room so we’re here right now!” Lloyd said as he burst into the room. We instantly looked up at him, both confused.
“Hey do you guys mind if we just sleep on the couch tonight? It turns out that all of the hotels around here are out of rooms.” Danny said walking into the room.
“Guys what the hell! Give them some privacy.” Nick said as he too walked into my bedroom.
“Umm, hey.” I said getting up out of Toby’s lap. I turned and looked at Toby as he stood up.
“Come on guys. Let’s give them some privacy.” Said Nick.
“Thanks Nick.” I said. Me and Toby laughed and followed all three of them into the front room to join the others.
“So, I thought you weren’t going to be in town till tomorrow.” I said walking towards the kitchen to find something to cook that would feed seven people.
“Yea we thought we weren’t going to be here till tomorrow but then we saw that on the map the town was no more than 5 miles away from where we were.” Said Lloyd. I sat there and thought to myself how bad it must be to not always be able to keep track of where you are when traveling. Well at least I now knew what to get them for Christmas.
