It was the day. My day. Our day. The one day that all of us had been looking forward to for so long! Toby and the guys went out early to get some things while I got ready. “Oh that dress is so beautiful on you!” Jessica said with excitement.
“Thank you. Get a good look, this is a rare moment.” I chuckled. “I never wear dresses.”
“It’s already a rare moment! You’re getting married!” It’s true. This was a very special and rare day. I was getting married and I was wearing a dress. I thought this day would never come. Hell I didn’t even think I would ever get married.
“I just can’t wait to see Toby in a suit!” I said with excitement. We both laughed. I sat down in front of a mirror and Jessica began doing my hair. “Jess, would you mind being my bridesmaid?”
“Are you serious? I’d love to, but I don’t have a dress.” She said concerned.
“It’s okay. There a couple of dresses in my mother’s bedroom that you can pick from. They’re all beautiful. My mom loved dresses.” I said remembering all the times that mom would take me shopping for dresses. I never wanted any of the dresses that the stores had so mom would always pick one for herself. She always picked the most beautiful dress she could find in the store. “I’m sure that you can find one that fits the wedding.” I smiled
Toby’s P.O.V
“How does it fit, Sir?” The tailor asked.
“It’s a lot more comfortable than it was last week.” I laughed.
“Good, but is it a perfect fit?”
“Yes it’s perfect.” I didn’t want to give the tailor any more problems. We all had our tuxes and were ready to go to the place of the wedding. Annabell had chosen to have the wedding at the church that her parents used to take her to when she was a child. The family that owned the building was surprised to see Annabell, but were happy that she was living a happy life. It was one of those churches with the huge steeple with a bell on top. It was just down the road from the house so it wasn’t going to be hard to get the bride to and from the church. “Hey Nick, did you call the caterer?” I had forgotten to call the caterer to let them know that we were on our way to the church to finish setting up.
“Yep. Already ahead of you!” He said with a smile. The band was used to doing work. They did everything themselves. We drove up to the beautiful church building. The outside was decorated in red and white ribbons. The bouquets were an arrangement of roses some were white, some were red, and others were white that had been left in a vase of red water so that the tips of the roses were red. They were all beautiful. “Hey we’re going to go get all the band equipment set up.”
“Okay. If you need any help just ask.” I said walking up towards the altar. I got a piece of paper out of my pocket. It was vowels that the preacher had given me to remember. I read over them a couple times trying to remember them but I couldn’t. It’s like there was something in my head blocking the words. “Crap I’m going to have to read the words right off the paper.” I said to myself with stupidity.
About an hour later some guests started to show up. We weren’t expecting very many people because we didn’t really invite anybody but the people that we had been in contact with in the past six to seven months. Some guy walked in with what looked to be his girlfriend. “Hi, I’m Andy. Um, Nick asked me to stop by. This is the right church right?” He had long black hair and kind of looked like he should be in a dress instead of a tux.
“Yeah he’s in the back bringing in all the equipment.” I pointed to the door towards the back of the sanctuary. He walked back with his girlfriend and greeted Nick. It was one hour till and I began to get nervous. I was starting to wonder if anything was going to go wrong. I sat down and once again tried to memorize the words on the piece of paper I had in my hand. Today was the day. Today was the day. My day. Our day.
