Chapter 15. A Secret (Paris Day 4)
Before sunrise
I sat in front of the mirror and looked at my reflection. It felt as if it was screaming at me...to open my eyes and see the reality.
But I didn't understand a single thing. I got the dreams, I met the man I saw in my dreams, Ruhaan. Ruhaan knew about the place I saw in my dreams and that girl who apparently I thought was me was his dead wife. I needed to know why me?
Ishika wanted to tell me something on New Year Eve's night. She addressed me as Ahaana. Something wasn't right. Yesterday she called Ruhaan brother.
My accident.
My job.
My life.
None of them justified any of the incidents that I feel I'm connected to.It feels as if it is all a dream and as soon as I'll open my eyes, I will be back in my world of glamour and spotlight.
I felt a sudden urge to read my mother's diary. I just cannot explain why but I don't know, I felt it would help me a bit.
I rushed into the area where my bags were kept and searched through two of my bags, finally finding it kept safely in the bottom of one of the trolley bags.
I grazed my fingers over the cover and held it close to my chest.
The last remains of my mother.
I sat on my bed, adjusted my pillow and switched on the reading lights.
All these years, I was beyond scared to even think about reading that diary. I was supposed to read it long long ago but I needed a lot of courage to even go through the first page.
I don't know if you'd understand but I couldn't accept the fact for a very long time that she was gone and I would never see her again. I was only six.
But today, finally I'm going to do what I should have done years ago. Finally I'm going to get to know my birth mother.
I flipped to the first page of the journal and saw my mother's black and white picture covering almost the full page.
Below her picture, her full name was written in bold black ink - Rajkumari Tara Singh Kaul of KashmirThat's it.
For about a minute I kept staring at her name.
Rajkumari...that means princess?
Princess of Kashmir?
I was curious to read furthur but before that I needed to make a call to Armaan bhaiya.
I searched for his name on my contact list and pressed on call.
