After getting the text message from Virgil, we called the cops immediately. The location was tracked to the woods outside town. The location on our phones were always a general area. Meaning he could be anywhere in the woods. These woods were large so that meant we had been searching for a week. I hope Virgil is okay. I know he wants nothing of me but I still want to find him. I want to tell him I'm sorry and tell him everything will be okay some day.
"Over here!" I hear someone call. "I found something!" I run over to them, its Virgil's foster dad.
"What is it? Any sign of him?" I ask paranoid.
"No, but it's smoke from the other side of the hill, it's most likely a house. And by the amount, it could be big" he says looking at the smoke.
"What if it's a fire?" I ask worried.
"Don't worry kiddo" Patton says coming up behind me. "I'm sure it's not." He turns around and yells out for Logan. Logan soon comes into our view.
"Your the smart one, what do you think that coming from?" I ask pointing towards to smoke.
"If I were to guess, I would say a house of some sort, however if Virgil were kidnapped don't you think it would be more hidden?" Logan says fixing his glasses. For once he took of his tie, wearing a sweater instead.
"Well we should have the police search it just incase." Virgil's dad states. He walks off seeing the police captain nearby.
"What if he's hurt? Or starving! Or dead!?" I pull at my hair hyperventilating. I've been doing that a lot lately, well ever since I knew he didn't take his own life. Which was three days after we found the notes. We've been looking for five days.
The police enter the building, carefully. We aren't aloud to follow until it's cleared. Virgil doesn't have a picture that we can give them. He was always against pictures of himself. We wait outside for awhile, me pacing back and forth with Patton trying to calm me. The building was too big but they said it could have a larger under ground area.
The police soon come out with about five people in handcuffs. They give us the go ahead to get him. They said they took everyone that had a bounty on them. They said two cops would come with us to find him as well.
"You two stay here I don't want to pull you guys into my mess any more then I already have" I say walking in with the cops. I head down a hall and look around. I find nothing but a staircase. "Should I go here or?" I turn asking the two people occupying me.
"We've already looked around up here didn't see anyone, they said that no one was left but we still have to be careful" I nod to him take the steps down. We came to an area that seemed like a living room almost. I looked around and saw many halls. I walk down one and come to a dark room. I take the flashlight on my phone and peer in. All that's in here is a bucket, a faucet, a industrial size fan, and a coat in the ground. I look closer at the coat. It's Virgil's! My spirts rise and I take it tying it around my waist.
A few hours later, we come to the last hallway. We found the area had a few others who seemed to be maids of a sort. We had sent them upstairs. Now we just had to finish the hall. I prayed that Virgil was here. I hear hush voices talking, actually maybe only one person. It didn't sound like Virgil. My hopes dropped pretty quick. Maybe he was moved to a different area, maybe they used his phone here as a distraction. What if he died after he sent the message? I shook the thoughts and stayed hopeful. I peeked around the corner where the hushed voice came from. I see someone, carrying Virgil. Tears prick my eyes. Virgil looks to be passed out Many wounds showing through his shirt and jeans. His wrist and knee look swollen. I turn and nod to the police. They go around the corner and point their guns towards the unknown person.
"Set them down and put your hands where we can see them!" The unknown man looks startled and carefully places Virgil down. "Good now your hands!" He raises his hands and raises is head. I soon recognized him, it's Virgil's brother.
"He's friend not foe, it's his brother" I say to them, they lower their guns slowly still wary. I walk up to him, taking a closer look at Virgil.
"What happened?" I ask picking Virgil up.
"Did you help the others?" He asks avoiding the question, "Also did you bring food and water?" I start walking looking at him confused. "I couldn't get him food or water the whole time he was here" He looks ashamed and starts walking up the hall.
"We got other people out, if that's what you meant. I'm sure Patton has food and I brought water with me. Any idea what his injuries are?" We soon come to the stairs, we began up them, one officer in front and one in back of us.
We make it out of the building and Patton,Logan, and Virgil's foster dad are waiting for us. Patton is against a tree, Logan nearby, sleeping. Virgil's dad looks up and see us all. Logan soon notices us as well and wakes Patton.
"Oh my gosh! Kiddo! How is he! Is he hurt? Oh! Who are you! Are you part of his family?" Patton bombards him with questions.
"Patton, we need to focus. Let's get Virgil to a hospital first then we can ask questions" He nods and starts to drag Logan towards the edge of the woods where we parked.
Virgil was finally resting on his hospital bed, they had taken him into surgery I guess. They said that he tore his asl, broke his wrist, was dehydrated, starving, sleep deprived, and many open wounds littered his body. They were getting fluids into him and they said they were going to give him some food when he woke up. They had his arm in a cast, and his knee in a brace. The bigger wounds were stitched closed. They also said it might take awhile for him to wake up, but to not worry. Me and his brother, whose name I learned is Dimitri, stayed in the room no matter what. However Patton and Logan came and left at regaler intervals.
"Hey kiddos, I brought some food." He held a bag of most likely sweets from the cafe near here. "Are you hungry?" He asks giving a sincere smile.
"I'm not really hungry, what about you?" I say looking at Dimitri.
"We should probably eat, when he wakes up he'll most likely kill us if he knew we weren't eating" he says shaking his head.
"You got that god damn right"
"Virgil!" I rush over to him and hug him. He starts crying I'm not sure why, so I let go of him. "What wrong?" Dimitri comes over as well, Patton already had run off to get Logan.
"I told myself I was still mad at you but I can't be" He says sobbing, "I missed you okay?" Dimitri laughs, and steps out.
"I missed you too V" I say smiling. "I know I messed up, you made that clear. I'm sorry, please don't take your life. It means so much to me. Even Patton and Logan. Logan wouldn't sleep while you were gone, he ended up passing out." I pull over a chair and sit next to his bed.
"Can I have a hug?" He asks tears still running down his face. I nod, enveloping him in one.
"You okay now, your safe." I sit him up, and sit behind him. His head rests in my lap. "Everything will be okay now" He smiles up at me.
"Kiddo! Your awake! Are you okay? What hurts? Are you hungry?"
"Patton, I'm sure he would say something if he wanted something" Logan says walking in, "but it is good to see you awake Virgil" Dimitri enters the room again.
"Doc said you can leave in a few days. Just have to wait it out" He says coming to the side of the bed. Finally, Virgil let's out a laugh.
"It's nice to be back"
