Chapter 3
"Ambrosia, you need to pull out the lightning bolt. You're the only one strong enough to do it besides your father. Hurry." I jumped up as if a fire was lit underneath me and grabbed hold of the bolt. A shock was sent thru me. I yanked as hard as I could and Uncle fell to the ground. I couldn't let go of the bolt; the light was illuminating off my face as if I was holding a flash light under my chin at a camp fire. Uncles eyes went cosmic and he started speaking in Ancient Greek. ας δούμε την αλήθεια. (Let her see the truth).
My head fell back, I could feel all my powers at once, the power of the bolt made this possible. the mist of the ocean on my face, the raw electric energy from the skies, the feel of all the souls of the living beings that surrounded us in every Realm and the dead in the underworld. It was as if my uncle was trying to warn me of something, but before I could understand him, I was thrown into my fathers' past memories.
*Flashback within Ambrosias Flashback* *Zeus Perspective*
"Hera, my darling, how are you feeling?" Zeus asked as he kissed his wife. She glowed with a light that even a blind man could see. "Oh, my love I am just wonderful. Our daughter is being extremely active today." Hera crooned. "Well of course!" Zeus laughed. "Taking after her old man already!" "Oh stop it now, she hasn't even been born, let her have a few more months of growing before she decides to start acting like you!" Hera giggled. "Now what on Olympus do you mean woman, I am a God, Saintly. No shenanigans here." He teased. "You must be thinking of my other devilishly handsome partner in crime Hades." A sadness overcame Hera. "My love, what is it?" Questioned Zeus. "It's just, I, Zeus. You know." Hera wept. She laid on the bed holding her very pregnant belly. She couldn't make eye contact with her husband. She missed her best friend. They've been thru everything together. Built Kingdoms and Realms. Discovered new places. Centuries of memories together, ruined. All because of her marriage and pregnancy. One tear slipped from Olympus and hit the Mortal Realm. "Hera, darling" Zeus whispered, "Hades loves you. He just needs time to adjust." She looked at her husband with eyes full of questions. But only one would answer them all. "Please" Hera begged, "tell me, which Realm has Hades gone to? I need to see him before our daughter is born." "You know I can't tell you that." Zeus said. "But, but, but Zeus, THAT'S ENOUGH HERA!" Thundered Zeus. "I SAID NO! NOW DROP IT!" Hera let one more tear hit the Mortal Realm. She got up, wiped her eyes, straightened her crown and fluffed her dress, she looked her husband dead in the eyes and told him, if you won't help me find Hades, Then I will find him myself. She turned on her heel and stormed out of their study.
Zeus called upon his brother Poseidon, but at that moment, little did Zeus know his wife had caused a literal hell on Earth to keep Poseidon busy. Knowing he wouldn't be paying attention to the skies, Hera let a few of her tears slip, which is now causing Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions. She knew exactly how to draw Hades out of where ever the hell he was. No matter what supernatural realm he was in, he could never neglect the mortals.
I paced around the place, wondering where my wife had gone. She normally takes a guard with her or at least leaves a note. I went back to our study and sat were my wife laid crying. I couldn't help but think out loud now that I was by myself. "Oh, my dear wife, I wish I could tell you were we put Hades, but we swore we wouldn't tell a soul. Not even you. I want to, I hate to see you suffer. But it was important, imperative you don't remember what happened. All you would do is worry and try to find him if I told you the real truth behind Hades disappearance. Knowing you, you would try to find him. You're so strong and brave but your so damn stubborn you just don't know when to leave well enough alone." I laid my head on the pillow just to smell her scent. Confused I felt the pillow, she was crying why isn't the pillow wet? I flipped it over, praying she didn't do what I thought she had done. I cannot deal with another Pompeii, I refuse. So many innocents lost that day due to my negligence. Fuck. It wasn't wet... I yelled for my guard Eric, the strongest, fastest, best of the elite. He is who I called when I couldn't find my Hera. Best damn tracker I've come across in my 3000 years.
"Your highness? You called?" Said Eric. "Yes! Eric, please come in. I need you to do something for me my boy. I need you to find Hera. She left without telling anyone and I have reason to believe she may have let her tears slip into the Mortal Realm. I don't need to remind you how dangerous that is for us." I said. Eric's face scrunched up. He is the only one I was able to save from Pompeii. This is something that will be personal for him. I know he will do a prompt and efficient job. "Yes Sir, I am on it. Give me 10 minutes." He said. He bowed, turned and hastily got on with his task. I paced around the study for what seems like hours. Thinking the worst. She's carrying my child; I don't know if I could ever forgive her if she harmed my Ambrosia. That baby is going to be a special child. My only daughter. I grabbed a tissue just as Eric came back, I deftly wiped the tears and cleared my throat. "What did you find out my boy?" I said. "Your majesty, (he kept his head bowed as he spoke to me, and spoke with a small voice which is unusual for him) The queen is in the Mortal Realm."
