It had been a day or so since I had helped the professor with his machine.
I was in the back yard, in the garage, working on my latest BIG project.
when I heard a knock on the door.
I know for a fact it wasn't (y/n) because I specifically told her never to come bother me when I'm working in the garage, unless it's an emergency, So it had to be someone else.
"Hello?" I ask, standing behind the door, hand on the knob ready to either lock it or open it. It depended on who it was on the other side.
"V- I mean, Tic? is that you?" It was the Professor.
"mm.... Yeah just give me a second." What I was working on wasn't exactly legal. It was a time machine, and it was a faulty one at that.
I know many people don't believe time travel is possible, which it may not be, but I was still going to try.
I throw a tarp over the machine and let him in.
"Hello professor. how did you know I was back here?"
"I had asked your sister (y/n) where you were. She told me back here."
I smile a bit, seeing him eye the tarp.
"What's under there?" He walks over, running a gloved hand over the tarp.
"Nothing really- uh don't take the tarp off please-"
He doesn't listen to me at all, ripping the tarp down.
He looks over the machine, his goggles flashing with curiosity.
"Mmm..." This was a very rare moment.
Watching Professor Membrane critique and analyze another person's work and not instantly knock it as "not real science."
"Time machine?" He asked, turning to look at me for a moment.
"Yeah- actually..." I say nervously.
"As a scientist you should know... this isn't sound science. These things are very fragile..." His goggles glint under the lightbulbs in the lab, as if they were flashing a look of warning.
"I wasn't exactly making it to use it, just to prove it possible."
He then nods, crossing his arms and the energy his lab coat gave off suggested a small smile was on his lips.
"I'll help you." I felt my heart skip a beat.
"You'll what? I think you meant that you have to shut it down-."
"No, I meant what I said, I'll help you." He looks at me, then starts looking through my tools.
"Though if it's going to work properly, you'll need some better tools. I'll be back." He walks to the door and leaves without saying another word.

When he comes back, knocking on the door again, he is carrying a particularly sciencey looking toolbox with him.
"Alright. Ready to get started?"
