James was hidden in the corner of the classroom with his head down avoiding all the judging stares from his fellow Gryffindor's. He was sitting at his desk alone, scribbling absently on a piece of loose parchment the letters L.E. Slughorn had gone into an in-depth discussion of how dragon heart string can be dangerous when heated above 140 degrees with Lily. But James already knew this, so he kept scribbling away waiting for something interesting to finally happen.

As if on cue Sirius walked back into the room with a cheeky grin spread out across his cheeks as if it were painted there. Sirius always walked with a confidence that told everyone else in the room that he knew something they didn't, and everyone wanted it. Moony often teased him about it later on but only because Moony had the same effect on people but he didn't have to smile or strut he just had it.

Sirius strut was becoming too much for James to handle, it had turned from confident walk to a swinging of his hips and a weird step sequence. James let out a loud barking laugh, startling Sirius and making him trip over Evan Rozier's cauldron and become covered in a half-baked batch of pepperup potion.

He stood up very fast hoping no one noticed, no one did apart from a laughing James and an angry Evan Rozier. Sirius sulkily made his way over to James and sat down glumly next to him, absently stirring James's potion.

"So, where have you been, apart from inside Rozier's potion" James asked cheekily. He had finished his potion in the first half of the class and had been sitting around waiting for Sirius to return so that they could be marked. But Sirius had disappeared during the first 2 minutes of the lesson only to return at the end.

"well Prongsy-poo, there was a certain Mary Macdonald who wanted a private tutoring lesson, that I couldn't say no to." using his fingers and the comb he keeps in his back pocket at all times, Sirius began removing orange clumps of potion from his hair that were landing on the dank floor of the potions classroom.

James chuckled to himself, he knew that Sirius didn't need to be in class, let alone care enough to show up, but only Sirius would plan to meet up with a girl to make out, when their monthly potions review was on. James signalled for Professor Slughorn to come over and mark them on their potion so that he could leave for lunch.

Slughorn had spotted them and almost ran over to them, "Aye Mr. Potter and Mr. Black, how fantastic it is to se you two working together with no hiccups, mind your hair of course"

Of course, James and Sirius regularly worked together but Sirius often got bored and tried to mess with James or his potions, sometimes causing small explosions or once, the shutdown of the classroom for a week. James usually threw poisonous ingredients into Sirius' hair until he caught his of his head started to burn. James was always much kinder because he still had to brew the potion while he was messing with Sirius.

"yes, well this is one of my favourite potions" said James, slyly sucking up to his professor which was not necessary in the slightest.

"Haha my boy, I do love to see a student engaged in the work, now let's see." Professor never drank any of the potions after trying a draught of living peace that Peter made last year which caused him to be stuck in the hospital wing for almost a month in a deep sleep. "the colour is excellent! And see this?" swirling the potion two turns counter-clockwise caused five bubbles to form and pop, "Five bubbles! Amazing, just the right amount of mandrake root, even Miss Evans only got four bubbles, truly a great potion boys"

At the mention of her name Lily looked over to see that James and Sirius's potion was better than hers. James met her eyes and gave her an apologetic smile, not knowing that Slughorn would mention her names but she turned around quickly and Sirius swore he heard a wooden spoon being snapped somewhere in the room.
