Not one soul was surprised to see the two youngest members fooling around with the other. Roughhousing was common - almost expected, in an environment surrounded by pent up testosterone and growing boys. Regardless, they were warned to be cautious with one another, mistakes were easily caused. Someone could end up hurt, and a true fight would blossom from that incident. A fight between them was hellish for the entirety of the group, both often seeking help from older members to mend things between them.
Unusually so, the two youngest were roughhousing with one another. Jimin would usually stand-by and record, both for the sake of good memories and to prevent arguments if something did go wrong. Foolproof evidence, if you asked him. He was busy today, being invited out by Yoongi and Hoseok to a newly opened restaurant nearby the dorms. This particular moment had been initiated by Taehyung, being all too tempted by his boyfriend's pretty smile, wanting to tickle him and elicit more radiant beams from him. Jungkook, only a lovesick fool, was only forced to reciprocate the sentiment. Equally enamored. Their small squabble slowly turned into more, hands and feet sprawling about- limbs contorting and tangling in glee.
"Be careful, guys. Cut it out before it somehow gets worse, please," Namjoon muttered, halfheartedly. He knew he would be ignored, soon proven right by the giggles escalating in volume, "Kids, I always go ignored."
Realizing that his leader duties were completed simply by warning them, and that they were grown boys who could take accountability for their actions, he walked off. Sighing, of course. Taehyung and Jungkook continued to mess around. The youngest of the two grabbed a pillow in an attempt to ward off his boyfriend's able fingers, and whacked him in the face to retaliate. Taehyung fell back, a small sound coming out of him before his hands went up to cover his face. There was a thump when he hit the ground.
"Ha! That's what you get for trying to annoy-" Jungkook's overexaggerated evil laughter was cut off abruptly when he heard sniffles coming from the lump on the floor. It took him less than a second to register the sound, and much less to react accordingly and fall to the floor before the crying boy. He cradled him in his arms, whispering apologies and reassurances. There was a frown etched on his face, blaming himself for their games getting out of hand.
"Tae, what's wrong? I didn't mean to hurt you, I'm sorry, baby." Jungkook said, trying to pry Taehyung's hands from his face. There was a sound of denial from the older man, pulling his hands back to his face. The younger had never felt so guilty.
There were multiple beats of silence as he waited for Taehyung to calm down.
"I'm alright, Kook. My nose just hurts." Taehyung had said, a bit later after he managed to comfort himself and the burning in his nose had subsided. He looked back at his boyfriend, who was so protectively still cuddling him in his arms. Turning around completely, he pressed a gentle kiss to his bunny boy's lips, a silent apology for worrying him. Trying to ease all the worries and guilt he knew were now pestering him. They were just playing, and now realized they could be more careful with what they do.
After a moment of Jungkook simply staring at Taehyung's face, presumably trying to find some hints of hesitance or pain, "You know I would never purposefully hurt you, right? You're the most precious person in the world to me. I'm sorry, I hate that I caused you pain to begin with." His voice was still a little uneasy, harboring worry. He stared at Taehyung, how his face had turned a saccharine shade of pink from the impact, his eyelashes glittering with crystalline tears that abandoned their port slowly. As if racing, who would reach the floor first? Breathtaking, his boyfriend was. His beauty was eternal, soft and hard features - the perfect balance. He was an envy, his mere existence worthy of all the praise he got.
Taehyung was distantly aware of the tears racing down his face. He urged his body to stop reacting so badly to the pain lingering in his nose, knowing it would only worsen how Jungkook felt. He felt the tickling sensation of them gathering at his eyes, only to slowly cascade down his face and melt within the cotton of his clothes. He decided that perhaps a distraction would do them well. A burst of endorphins was sure to reassure them both that nothing was immediately wrong. He kissed his boyfriend gently, parting his lips and tilting his head just right. Making sure that they could feel nothing except the other, escaping the world as they usually did. After a few minutes of lingering, he hid his face in his boyfriend's neck. Inhaling, making sure to always remember how special that spot was for him.
Other members had slowly gathered on the other side of the room to watch the scene unfold. Yoongi soon retreated to his room once he realized no mishaps would happen, that no fight was imminent. He grabbed Jimin's hand, who was tearing up while reminiscing of how fast time had slipped past them. It felt that not long ago they were only children. Yoongi also grabbed Hoseok's hand in passing, also holding tears within his chocolate eyes. Somehow having the same train of thought as Jimin, just differing in how, to Hoseok, they were all his babies once. Seokjin and Namjoon stayed, though, holding hands. Realizing, in that moment, that perhaps their kids were not so much kids any longer.
The couple basked in the attention of the other, pointedly ignoring the other members and their dramatic antics. The floor was cold, the lack of blankets and the wood of the floor working together to prevent any heat. But, the warmth and love emanating from each other was more than enough to keep their hearts heated just right. Soon enough, they fell asleep. Curled into one another, body seeking one another in a language only they understood.
Though heavily inclined to wake them, Yoongi convinced the others to let them rest. Promotions had just ended, and the exhaustion from constant working was caught up to all of them - they deserved this moment of reprieve, of safety within the other. They all did. Making sure to leave them food for when they woke, all but the sleeping bodies on the floor vacated the living room. Allowing the lovers on the wooden floor to reach into dreamland together, side by side.
