one way glaѕѕ
A poem
by Ysabella Susim

We walk, side by side
Divided by difference of character.
Do you see me as I see you?

And I do see you.

I see how you struggle
I see how you cry
I see how you smile
I see and know why

I know why you hurt
I know how you love
I know you love me
But am I enough?

Do you see me?
I don't think you do
I do not think you see me
As I see you.

Do you see,
The friendship I give?
Do you see,
Past your own narrative?
Do you see,
The tears I also cry?
Or do those tears,
Merely slip by?

Do you see,
The darkness in me?
Or do you only see,
What you need from me?
Do you see,
When I am in pain?
Or do you see me,
As only the same.

I show you my happy,
I show you my love,
I support you, I love you
But am I enough?

Do you see me,
Like I see you?
Or is this glass between us,
Blinding for you?

This one way glass,
It threatens to break.
This blindness of me,
It's too much to take.

I'm still just a girl,
I have feelings too.
A friendship goes both ways,
It's not just for you.

So, please tell me..

Do you see me as I see you?
Is me as I am enough for you?
