Amara POV
(two weeks later...)
I was becoming deadly.
I could beat Peter in physical sparring and was becoming better and better and fighting with weapons.
And even though he would never admit it, Peter was shook by how fast I was learning.
Shook.Ha. Not really.
He always found the mistakes in whatever I did and honestly I think for him I would never be good enough.
But hey, a girl can try.It would soon be winter break, and after break there was only a semester left of senior year.
Than I would be able to move into the Liberty for the Bounded Headquarters.
Which would mean no more 'Vickie' and lots of seeing Chelsie.
What could be better?I put down my pencil, shoving my workbook into my backpack.
The winter dance was tomorrow.
And I didn't have a date this year.
Which would be a first.I was the kind of girl who always had a date. The kind of girl who flirted around and wasn't looking for anything serious.
The one who, as a little kid, would steal all the boy's hats... you get the picture. But this year was different.
I had turned down all the guys who asked me. I don't know why.
I mean, it's not like there was this idiot who wouldn't ask me.
Ahem.I banged my head on my desk.
With homework done I had a few options. YouTube, Netflix, or calling Peter.
Yep.
Defiantly calling Peter. It took him five whole seconds to pick up.
"Hey. Tyler here. Who's this?"
I couldn't help but feel a spark of discouragement that I wasn't saved in his contacts.
"Amara, idiot." I grumbled.
"Oh. Hey. It's nine thirty and I'm trying to sleep. Why are you calling? Is something wrong? Has the HH—"
"I'm bored."
I could feel him rolling his eyes on the other end of the line.
"How devastating," he said dryly.
"Mmhmm. So I'm coming over. I'll be there in like ten minutes. Bye!" Before he had a chance to say anything I hung up.
I pulled a coat on and grabbed the keys to the car.
"Larissa, I'm going out!" I called."Be back before curfew young lady!"
I didn't respond, slipping out the door and hopping into the car.
I revved the engine, turning on the heater.
Snow fell lightly outside.I parked the car and walked to the front door, pausing for a moment.
What were Peter's "parent's" names?
Sharon and Daniel?
Eh.I knocked and a few moments later the door opened to a petite blonde woman.
"Hi, I'm Am—Vickie. Pe—Tyler is expecting me.""Oh, yes. Come on in out of the cold, dear. I'm Shannon."
Shannon, not Sharon. Got it."Peter is in his room. Down that hallway, first door on the left."
"Thank you." I pulled off my coat and boots and tiptoed down the hallway, knocking on Peter's door.
I didn't wait for an answer before throwing it open and running in, jumping on the bed.Peter blinked at me from his desk.
"Should I be concerned?""Very." I grinned, enjoying the warmth of the house. "It's freezing out there, Pete. Freezing."
"That's nice. Why did you come over again?"
"I already told you. I'm bored and you're the only interesting person I know- even if you're only mildly interesting. And I got tired of talking to myself even though I'm a great conversationalist because I'm mega-interesting."
