Amara POV

Chelsie was looking down at her hands.

I reached out and rested my own hand over one of her soft brown ones.
"You're safe here, Chels. It's okay."

She began to speak.
"Things started out rocky, but I really thought it was getting better. I began making friends and Yulia and I grew close. Than... well some people weren't what I thought they were."

She wasn't telling me something. Something essential.
Fine. I changed the subject.
"You look tired, have you been feeling okay?"

"Yes, yes, I'm fine," she said in a tired voice. I didn't buy it for a moment.

"Chelsie. Stop lying. Remember the pact we made, years ago, never to lie to one another?"
She nodded sullenly.
"You won't think of me the same way."

"I would never think of you as anything less than my best friend, and the sweetest girl I know."

She smiled, and I could hear her inhale.
"I started dating this guy. Turned out, he was a big fake. He used me, Amara. Used my body, took my soul and stomped on it. And I couldn't- can't tell anyone because he has ways to ruin my life, my reputation, everything. I'm trapped."

My nails dug into my palms.
"That Theo kid?" I ground out, seeing red.

She nodded numbly.
"But he's gone now. Went to collage. But... Amara?"

I tried to push the fury boiling in my stomach down, for her sake. Chelsie didn't like to see me mad.
"Yes, hon?"

"I think.... he.... ithinkimightbepregant."

Everything around me seemed to stop.
There was just Chelsie and I.

"Chelsie..." I started, slowly, "you're sure?"

Her lip was quivering. "I haven't taken a test but I'm p-pretty sure... I'm scared, Amara. I'm terrified."

"I'm going to kill him," I snarled.

Peter POV

I took a deep breath and rung the doorbell.

God, who knew what she would do.
It could be anything from slamming the door in my face to stabbing me with a knife.

I had practically gotten on my knees begging not to be the one to show her around HQ but Anastasia wouldn't have it.

I couldn't trust myself around Amara.
She was electricity, she was fire.
I still couldn't believe I had fallen so hard for her.
I had to pick the one girl who didn't want anything to do with me.

I rung the doorbell again.
Still no answer. Just barking.

"Amara?" I called.

Footsteps.
"Peter?"

It wasn't Amara. "Chelsie?"

The door slid open and Chelsie pulled me inside, eyes wide.
"Thank God. She's gone, Peter. I couldn't stop her, it was like she couldn't even hear me. She just left. She didn't even say goodbye to the dogs. She... she... she..." Chelsie burst into tears.

What was I supposed to do?
How did I get her to stop doing that?
How did you make a girl stop crying?

I awkwardly cleared my throat and patted her back gently.
"Do you know where she went?"

"To kill him. She went to kill Theo."

Oh no...
"Who's Theo? Where does he live?"

"I-I don't know," Chelsie wailed, she seemed near hysterics.
