Chelsie POV
I awoke the next morning feeling nauseous, but after some time it cleared.
I rolled out of bed, onto the floor, blinking groggily.
What time was it?
The sun was shining brightly outside and I heard the sound of children playing in the distance. My cellphone vibrated with an alarm that must have been ringing for some time, because it was now 10:00am.
So much for getting a early start.I stood, using the bathroom and taking a quick shower before hopping out and blow-drying my hair, quickly straightening it to a silky sheen.
I pulled on a black and white pattered sundress, humming softly as I put in earrings and did my makeup.
And I felt... happy.
I would be seeing Amara today and she would set things to right.
She would help me.
I hoped.Yulia was waiting for me downstairs with a plate of eggs and some sausage.
I smiled and thanked her, scarfing down the food.
I was hungry these days."Got everything?" Yulia questioned with a bright smile, dangling the keys from her hands.
I nodded, returning the smile.
It felt good to smile.I hopped in the passenger seat, buckling in.
The drive seemed to take forever, but in reality couldn't have been more than four hours.
When we eventually stopped it was in the middle of nowhere.
Like, actually the middle of nowhere. We were in a felid with tall savannah-like grass sprinkled with wildflowers.
"Wait here." Yulia instructed, getting out of the car.
I watched in confusion as she stepped forward and squatted, seeming to dig in the dirt. She than leaned down to where it almost looked like she was kissing the ground....? The heck?
Yulia quickly walked back to the car and grinned at me. "Hold tight."
The ground rumbled, caving in and giving way to a dark tunnel.
"Wow.""I know, right," Yulia laughed, driving into the tunnel.
As soon as we had entered fully it sealed behind us, locking us in.
Just as I was beginning to think we would be driving in darkness for awhile lights flicked on, illuminating the tunnel."Double wow." I breathed.
The walls were made of some kind of metal, and as we kept driving I began to see movement behind tinted windows.
Yulia stopped the car, gesturing for me to get out.
I did as she said.
Surprisingly, the tunnel was the perfect temperature."This way." Yulia began to walk briskly towards a metal door.
I followed, jogging to keep up.
She brought her eye up to a retina scanner (not that I had ever seen one before) and the door slid open, leading into a modern-looking room with sleek white walls.People of all shapes, sizes, and colors were milling about, many of them in skin-tight uniforms with the Liberty for the Bounded logo on the chest.
Yulia laughed when she saw my face and brought my jaw back up. I blushed, realizing I had been gaping.
Yulia walked over to a tall blonde gentleman sitting calmly behind a desk, typing on what looked like a computer, but far more advanced than any I had ever seen.
"Amara?" She asked.Without looking up the man spoke, "Apartment 2A in the Eastside."
"Thank you." Yulia said, all business as she strode over what looked like a go cart, yet much fancier.
"Hop in, yet be careful. These things are fast."I held tightly to the armrests as Yulia tapped numbers into a keypad where a steering wheel would usually be.
Without warning the go-cart thing lurched forward, smoothly gliding down the halls, picking up speed as it went.I closed my eyes tightly as my hair whipped around my face.
Eventually the go-cart slowed and I opened my eyes again to find myself in another white hallway, yet this one had sleek doors with numbers on them.I took a deep breath as I stared at door 2A.
I couldn't help but be nervous."Aren't you coming?" I asked Yulia, as she sat there watching me with a smile.
"No. I don't think I will. This is a moment between you and your friend. I know how it is. Besides, I have business to attend to." She blew me a kiss, typed something, and just like that she was gone.
I breathed softly as I went up to the door and rung the doorbell.
Instantly, the sound of barking and yipping reached my ears, causing me to smile.
This was definitely Amara's.The door slid open and I stared at the girl before me.
She was so beautiful, even with her messy bun and the scar that ran up her cheek.
"Amara," I choked.
"Chels." She hugged me tightly, nearly crushing me.I laugh/cried, squeezing her back.
"I missed you... and when I heard of your accident I didn't know what to do with myself. I'm sorry... so so sorry.""Hey. Stop that. It's not your fault. I'm just glad you're finally here. This is how it's supposed to be. The two of us against the world."
She smiled, but there was a bit of bitterness behind the smile. The last months hadn't been kind to either of us.
Amara closed the door behind me and my eyes landed on a silver pup, staring at me with bright amber eyes.
"Um. Amara? Why is there a wolf in your apartment?"She laughed, scooping up the puppy and rubbing its belly. It nibbled her fingers.
"This is Survivor. The vet says he's not a wolf, but I'm waiting for his genetics test still."Rapid barking came from the other room and I was hit by a ball of fur with bright blue eyes.
I felt a wet tongue on my cheek.
"Destiny! Ew!" I laughed rubbing her head. She panted, looking satisfied with herself. "You butt." I said affectionately.
"Hungry?" Amara asked, setting Survivor down and dusting off her hands.
"Actually, starving." I admitted, standing up.
"It's been so long." Amara said softly as she pulled out bread and cheese.
I closed my eyes, rubbing my temples. "I know."
Amara spread mayo on the bread, and I could see the defined muscles in her arms.
She was even more toned than last I saw her... what had happened to both of us to change us so much?Amara finished up the sandwiches and sat down across from me, her hazel eyes boring into mine.
"Spill it, Chels."•••
Yay, double update!
And since I showed what survivor looked like I thought I'd show what Destiny looks like:
Also can I rant for a moment?
Anyone know how to get rid of an over persistent ex?
Because I broke up with this guy and he acted like sh!t yet still keeps trying to get me back.
So that's fun.
But not really.
