Amara POV
The last few weeks had been torture.
I tried to sleep as often as possible, once or twice Peter visited, and would read to me, or bring me audiobooks to entertain myself, but it kinda hurt he wasn't coming more often.
I took every pill the doctors gave me, drank every medicine they handed over, but nothing was working.
I wasn't getting any better.
Until Liberty for the Bounded showed up.The medicine they gave me had an unsettling effect.
One moment my head was spinning and I felt excruciating pain, like my veins were on fire, than the next minute everything in my body seemed to click into place. And so, I was finally released from my pristine prison.
I hopped into the car and glance in the review mirror.
Good God.
I looked a mess.I had stitches down my cheek still, they wouldn't be taken out until a few more weeks, and I was bringing a whole new meaning to the words 'messy bun'.
Larissa started the car and I stared straight ahead at the road, some part of me whispering that the car could go out of control and minute... any second.
I buried my hands in Destiny's fur, grateful that Larissa had brought her along.
I couldn't calm my tense muscles, or my heart that pounded in my chest.Larissa noticed my hyperventilating.
"Are you okay, Vickie?" She asked with genuine concern."Y-yeah. I'm fine." I muttered through clenched teeth, beads of sweat breaking out on my forehead.
Destiny began to lick my fingers, sensing my fear.Larissa frowned.
"The doctors warned me you might develop PTSD; or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...."She wasn't helping.
"No. Really. I'm Ok—"
I couldn't finish my sentence because suddenly I felt the sensation of the car jerking out of control, swirling and slipping.I let out a scream, causing Larissa to pull to the side of the road.
It was then I noticed the car had been driving along normally."Oh. Oh no. No no no no," I panted, chest heaving.
This wasn't happening to me.
I didn't get afraid.Larissa gently placed a hand on my arm. "Please climb out of the car, Vickie, you'll feel a lot better- trust me."
I obeyed, exiting the vehicle, my arms wrapped around Destiny.
After a few moments my heartbeat began to slow and peace crept into my mind.
The mind that only a few minutes before had betrayed me."Okay. Now I need you to get back in the car. Hold Destiny. Close your eyes. Don't think. Just focus on your breathing."
I did as I was told.
I needed to do something about this fear.
I needed to find a way to beat it.
Before it beat me.•••
A short chapter, I know.
But I'm updating again- don't worry. The next chapter is also going to be short and um...
You might hate me for it.Sorry in advance.
Also here's a quick little thing I did:
