Author's Note, February 13, 2020 (updated February 17, 2020):
I wrote the story that I wanted to read about the real-life relationship between Dylan/Didi/Wang Hedi/Xiao Wang andShen Yue/Yueyue/Xiao Shen. Although I am a DiYue/DyShen shipper and hope that they are together in real life, this is a fictional story. While based on real-life events, the thoughts and actions of the characters, including Unnamed Diyue Shipper 1 and Unnamed Diyue Shipper 2 , are imagined.
This story is not told chronologically, similar to Greta Gerwig's movie adaptation of Little Women. The story is meant to be read in part order (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, etc.). Thank you for giving this fan fiction story a chance. I began writing this story in January 2020. As of February 10, 2020, I will not respond to any comments, but please know that I appreciate your support and hope you enjoy reading.
My target audience is those who also ship Didi and Yueyue, so if you are not a Diyue shipper and it pains you to read about them being together, please do not read any further.
If you are a Diyue Shipper, this is also meant to be a love story to the fandom. 💜💛 Taken any other way would be to take this work out of context.
If you would like credit for inspiring this work, please let me know. I would be happy to mention you. I just do not want anyone to be a target.

She checked her messages and ratings. Someone had reviewed her account for an hour and a half. There had been a considerable amount of traffic in the last couple of days. She smiled to herself. Looks like there is someone new in the DiYue fandom. She's probably a lurker, but that's okay. Welcome to the fandom!

Shen Yue was in her apartment, padding around in fluffy bear slippers. Today, she wore a simple white lounge suit, her hair thrown casually in a ponytail. She didn't expect to go out and was planning to review a few scripts that her manager had sent her. If she did need to go out, she could throw something on quickly and ruffle out her hair easily.
She threw herself heavily onto the couch and sighed. She hadn't been getting very good scripts lately and the ones she liked had not led to any promising roles. She gritted her teeth. Remember, she thought to herself, it is the journey and not the destination. Just keep working hard and trying. I know you have this in you.
She opened up the first script on the table in front of her and began reading.

Didi stretched out in the airplane seat. His long legs were feeling restless and cramped. I can't wait to get off this plane. I wonder what she's up to now. He grinned, thinking about Shen Yue. Although they hadn't talked in awhile, they had been exchanging text messages and he liked to think that she was thinking about him, too.
Strong Strong, he thought fondly. She became prettier the more he looked at her and he missed their times together at the Inn.
He began massaging his legs and arms. Aiya, you're lucky that you were able to work with her after Meteor Garden and that you have gotten all these great roles and fan attention, he chided himself. He was truly grateful that he had gotten the roles in Ever Night 2 and in Our National Southwest Associated University and Us. He also wished that his fans were more forgiving of Shen Yue, but he knew that as an idol, he had a role to fulfill.
He felt the prickly sensation that was becoming all too familiar. Someone had recognized him and he felt their eyes burning through his skull. He unconsciously rubbed his head. Hey, he laughed to himself, all in the life of Didi. I'm a tall and handsome guy, of course they're going to notice me. He had put on a mask, but sometimes that attracted even more attention. He was reminded of when he was on Super Idol. He actually didn't give much thought to how he looked. After all, at a certain point, looks just came with the territory, like seeing your own reflection every day. He automatically thanked people with humility whenever they complimented him on how attractive he was. However, what he really wanted to concentrate on was his acting. He knew that his looks had a shelf life. Even idols will outgrow their persona someday. What remains is one's character and talents. He wanted to make sure that he improved himself every day, whether that was his work or his basketball skills or even playing video games. He stopped himself in his tracks.
I'm getting ahead of myself. I am grateful for my fans and for this life. He closed his eyes momentarily and let his mind wander to a happy memory.
He let his mind drift to think of Shen Yue and in the last 20 minutes of the flight, he slept with a smile on his face.

She stopped typing and rubbed her face. For the last week, all she had done was rewatch Meteor Garden, google "Dylan Wang and Shen Yue dating," read Twitter accounts, blog posts, and reviews, and hungrily absorb any information that she could about Wang He Di and the beloved YueYue.
How is it that she felt like she knew Didi and Yue like they were her friends? She wanted to protect them, and regardless of whether they were in a relationship, she wanted to make sure that they were happy and that their careers were successful.
"Protect them at all costs," she remembered seeing on a DiYue shipper's Twitter account.
"Yes," she thought. "But how?"
