Connor and Caesar sat at a table waiting for the director to begin filming their last scene for the final episode. Their makeup had been retouched and the lighting and camera crew were making final adjustments.
Connor said to Caesar, "I really got the short end of the stick."
Caesar, confused, asked, "What do you mean?"
Connor replied, "Well, Guan Hong gets to have a noble love with Jing, you get Xiaoyou, and Didi, of course, gets Shancai. I'm left with no one."
Caesar slowly nodded his head in understanding and said, "Ah, you mean, for our characters. Mei Zuo doesn't get Caina."
Connor: "Right. How unlucky!"
Caesar: "I don't think you realize how important your relationship with Caina is to the storyline."
Connor: "What do you mean? That I like older women?"
Caesar: "No, you show a true version of love, where you want the person you love to be happy, and so, you sacrifice your own happiness for hers. You really are like Rick in Casablanca."
Connor: "But I end up alone. What a sad ending."
Caesar: "That's one way of looking at it. Another way to interpret it is that it's hopeful because you know you will find love, and that you just have to wait a little longer."
Connor: "So wise, Xize."
Caesar, with a straight face, responded: "Or it could be that you really do just end up sad and alone."
Connor shook his head and chuckled. "Hey, do you think Didi likes Shen Yue?"
Caesar: "Do birds have wings?"
Connor: "What about Shen Yue? Do you think she likes Didi?"
Caesar, arching a brow: "Do you even have to ask?"
The director called out: "Everyone at their marks!"
Connor had seen Shen Yue and Didi's interactions, and he thought there might be something between them, but he wasn't sure. He had been enjoying Shen Yue's company during the filming, and they liked recommending different products to each other. He was almost certain that he would be working with her again on a new series, Another Me.
He recalled how possessive Didi could be. Early on, when they first started shooting, he and Caesar were joking around with Shen Yue, and Didi swooped in and pushed them, mainly him, away from her. While Connor knew that Didi was pretending to be Daoming Si at the time, he had seen other instances of Didi staring at Shen Yue when he thought people weren't watching, and he wasn't the only one who was curious as to whether they were in a relationship offscreen. Even the staff thought they had something going on.
Connor grinned, thinking about what Caesar had said earlier. I just have to wait a little longer. I'll find someone, too.

Is there a reason Didi and Kangkang aren't as close as they were before? They don't seem to be hanging out as much as they used to, and they knew each other even before Meteor Garden.
She had really appreciated Mei Zuo's character arc in Meteor Garden. At one point, she was afraid that his storyline was foreshadowing that Shancai or Daoming Si would sacrifice themselves for the other. She was relieved that was not the case.
She also liked that Caina provided another perspective of how someone could deny their own feelings. Like Shancai's denial of her true feelings for Daoming Si, Caina denied her true feelings for Terence. Further, Caina was older and more experienced than Shancai, showing that it doesn't matter how old you are, emotions and relationships are complicated and difficult at any age.
Also, Liu Ye, the actress who played Caina, was a DiYue shipper. Team Caina!

Both Yueyue and Didi's studios posted that their February schedules would be unavailable due to the epidemic.
Stay safe, you two. Stay safe, everyone.
