The Meteor Garden craze began back in 2001 when the Taiwanese Meteor Garden was released with Barbie Hsu and Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu. Fast forward to 2018, and a new generation was introduced to the infamous F4, or Flower 4, the indomitable Daoming Si, and the captivating Dong Shancai.
Based on Japanese manga, Hana Yori Dango, the live action 2001 Taiwanese version of Meteor Garden brought the four boys in the 2001 Meteor Garden to idol status. The boys also toured as singers in the F4 group. Barbie Hsu also shot to fame. At the time that Meteor Garden first came out, fans adored the chemistry between Barbie Hsu and Jerry Yan and there was much curiosity about whether the two were dating in real life. As it turned out, Barbie Hsu was in a relationship, but with a different F4 member, Vic Chou, and the relationship occurred many years after the filming of Meteor Garden.
Now, with the craze of Meteor Garden 2018, a new F4, including Daoming Si, and Dong Shancai have been propelled to stardom, and not just across China and Asia, but internationally, thanks to the distribution through Netflix. Angie Chai, the godmother of idol dramas, has done it again.

What about those who may have just watched Meteor Garden (2018) and want to know more about the background and the history of the remake?
More significantly, she thought, how will the fans understand how important they really are?
