At 24, we were graduates. We were both faced with the ultimate question. "What are we doing now?" You were offered the coach position at a really good, top-notch high school in Texas. I was offered a position as a technical program manager at Google in California. You always joked about how the geek and the jock got together. But now it seemed like distance would separate us. Neither of us were ready to jump onto the 'I DO' wagon that all of our friends had already done.
So we said goodbye. We kept in touch, but all relationship strings had been cut. It was a hard year. I had so much fun; I met so many new people and I got to do what I had gone to school for so long for.
But I missed you.
