BRI'S POV
"Guys. Where are Mitch and Jerome?" Quentin asked as we all sat down, glancing back at the newly formed 4 empty chairs.
"Do you think-" I cut Ty off before he could finish.
"Mitch and Jerome aren't that stupid. They're probably just on their way from guard duty, you know how busy it is at a time like this." I stated. Ty nodded, as if shaking the dark thought from his head.
As we waited in painful silence, I stared at the ocean through the large window at the end of the hallway.
"It's been far to quiet lately." Sky muttered, earning all eyes. "The squids are probably planning their next attack as we speak."
"The army is in no shape to take another one of those battles." I point out. "Nearly half of our numbers were either injured or..." I couldn't possibly finish, but they got the point.
I half expected a voice to stand up and lift our spirits, shouted and joking around, but that voice was far away, to far to for my liking.
Before anyone could say anything, a guard rushed into the room.
"Ocean. Jerome. Mitch-" sky cut him off.
"They went in the ocean?!" He half shouted.
"They brought someone back." The guard countered, sprinting away. Without one words hesitation, we stumbled after him, some of us even knocking chairs over in the process.
The sun glared down from above, creating a scorching heat wave that hit us as soon as we got outside, probably preventing the squids from attacking.
Players saw the commotion and followed the group of leaders to the beach, where Jerome and Mitch were kneeling over a body completely covered in cuts.
"Hannah?" My voice cracked at the end, slightly surprising me. I walk forward before anyone else, stoping at the limp body of my best friend.
"The squids let us go. They just dumped us on the beach." Mitch whispered, not looking up.
"She's alive? Right?" Sky asked, suddenly next to me. Jerome only nodded as he picked the almost lifeless body up and to the infirmary.
"She's back." I whispered.
"But how?" Ty replied darkly, staring at the pair as they disappeared behind the wall.
It must've been a trap.
