Charlie’s P.O.V
I know I’m being stupid, because it shouldn’t have taken me twenty minutes to work up the courage to leave my house, Dorothy wasn’t home so it made it harder. And it took me ten more to make sure that there were no monsters lurking in my mind to leave the car, and walk to the door.
I didn’t know what to expect. If Castiel would be as much of a mess as he sounded on the phone or if....if Dean would be...no I couldn’t think it because Cas couldn’t survive that again.
I froze, I couldn’t bring myself to knock on the door, I didn’t want to open the door to a black eyed Castiel or a black eyed Dean. I couldn’t take that, because they were the closest thing to family that I had left.
Instead I rested my head against the cool wood, closing my eyes and just attempting to settle my thoughts enough to knock on the door. And when I finally did, I stood, rocking on my heels, peering around nervously, until the door opened to loud sobs, and a red faced, teary eyed, broken looking Castiel.
“Charlie” He sobbed out.
“Cas, what’s wrong, where’s Dean?” He pointed shakily to their bedroom, but when I went to walk in that direction he wouldn’t follow me. “Cas come on” I pressed, going to grab for his hand.
He shook his head and backed up into the door. “I-I can’t go in there Charlie.” He cried, sliding down to the floor.
I crouch down in front of him, and now I could hear Gabriel’s comforting voice wafting from their bedroom. “Cassie, what happened, what was in the note?” I whisper, I was almost afraid to ask, I already had an inkling towards its contents. “Cas” I say again.
He shook his head, and leant forward so his forehead was pressing against my shoulder. “I-I” He sputtered.
“Cas why is Dean crying, what happened?” I say again, impatience tinting my tone.
He leans back against the door again, a resigned, tired, miserable look pulling his face down, “It was a suicide note” He said, his voice dead. All the sobs, and brokeness falling from his face as his mask slipped on.
I shook my head and fell on my ass.
Everyone you know is dead.
“No” I hissed out, making Cas flinch.
“Charlie?” Cas asked, concern all over his face as he leant forward to grab at my shoulders. “Charlie” He said again, I couldn’t get my mouth to formulate words. “What’s wrong?” He repeated.
And I didn’t want to look up, because I was suddenly scared of what I was going to see. Chaaarliiieee. a voice hissed from somewhere down the darkening hallway.
I couldn’t stop myself from shaking, couldn’t help but slide forward to bury my face in Cas’ jacket. The cold chill, that come with their presence stung my cheeks, and the hollowness was haunting my mind.
Cas’ P.O.V
“Charlie?” I asked, and I couldn’t stop myself from panicking as she pressed her face into my jacket, her fingers claws in my collar.
I froze when she stopped shaking and settled for rocking. “Charlie, what’s going on? I promise Dean’s fine.” I reassure her, because I wasn’t really sure what to say.
Dean’s sobbing was still racking off of the walls, the horrible dry wretching coursing down my spine. “Cas” She whispered.
She was scaring me, this kind of closness was not only strange but unexpected. It was almost like las- no I can’t go back there. None of us wanna go back there, because we can’t.
