Allison
I dropped my dad's truck off to him, he was at work which was convenient for me. Tony and I decided to pair up today and split our profits 50/50. We often did this even though it meant less money for the each of us.
Tony was my best friend, I wouldn't say that out loud, ever, especially anywhere that he could hear it. He made the work day go by a lot faster, besides, I needed to tell him something anyway.
"It's official. I'm dating Zoe" I told him after we pulled out from our parking lot, on our way to tow our first car.
"It's about damn time. What changed your mind?"
"You" After a moment of silence I continued, mood darkening just a bit. "And that damn Natalie. I swear, she wants everything that I have"
Tony threw his head back and laughed. "Your cousin is psycho. She may even be more psychotic than you slim"
I wanted to punch him but I decided against it. Instead, I choose to talk more about Zoe. "I'm taking her out tonight, I'm thinking a buffet because she loves to eat. The food won't be as good as when she makes it because damn that girl can cook" I bragged. I wouldn't be taking her out to dinner too often, not when she's better than any 5-star chief out there.
"So you've said. Multiple times. You need to put your money where your mouth is. Invite me and Joy over to the apartment, we can double date"
"Woah. What's up with you and Joy. It's not like you to see a girl more than once"
There was a moment of silence as he smiled. I knew that look, just never seen it on Tony's face. "I don't know, I just really enjoy her company. She gets me, you know. We're just really good friends with benefits"
I snorted. "Yeah right"
He laughed. "Her pussy is really tight, what can I say?" He tried to laugh it off and play it cool, but I knew better. Tony seriously liked Joy. Who would have thought?
I received a text from Zoe, so I decided to text her back. "Hey, you know of anyone selling their old car, I'm sick of walking and catching the bus"
He shrugged. "It depends, how much are you willing to spend?"
"I don't have a lot. Maybe a couple of thousand. I'd have to ask the old man for a loan. Morgan cleaned out my bank account before she left"
"I'll see what I can do, but I'm surprised"
"What?"
"You said Morgan instead of 'my wife', you're getting over her, that's a good sign"
"Well, I kind of have to. I have a girlfriend now"
"Yeah, well take off the ring," He said with a challenging tone to his voice. I glanced down at my hand at the wedding band and the wedding ring. I glanced back at him. He didn't think I would do it. I rolled down the window, took the rings off my finger and threw them out the window. I glanced at him as he turned on the emergency breaks and slammed on the breaks.
"Are you fucking retarded!?" He shouted at me.
"Me?! You're the one that's trying to kill us" People were blowing their horns and yelling at us.
"Well, you need the money and you just threw hundreds of dollars out the window"
I thought for a moment then smiled. "Shit, when you're right, you're right"
