The Assignment ch9
Michael slammed his fist down on his desk as soon as Jessie left. Not only had he just blown any chance that he ever had with Jessie, but also she was in danger. Tears welled in his eyes as well, he felt like bawling for the first time since he was a small child.
He fought back the tears and walked out of the school. He jumped in his car and headed straight to the local tavern. Michael spotted Jessie in the park sitting on a bench with her face in her hands as he drove by. He slammed on his brakes then quickly parked the car. After a few deep breaths to calm himself he got out of the car and headed straight for Jessie. Soon he found himself standing in front of the still sobbing woman.
"Jessie please don't cry I was a jerk and I am so sorry."
Jessie looked up at him, "Is this how you keep your fucking word Michael just five minutes ago you said you would not bother me again. I guess my story is as good as told all over town. I might as well fucking pack and move."
"Jessie I probably have that coming and more, but under the rules of this town I expect you better watch your language."
Jessie thought about these words for a moment. She knew Michael was warning her. If she cursed at him again he would have her over his knee. It would be the same, as she would do with Jamie.
"Yes Sir I am sorry now can you please leave me alone."
"Listen Jessie I realize I have been a total jerk. But it was all the results of many sleepless nights trying to figure out why you dumped me. Now I just wonder if you did love me why you did not tell me the truth in the first place."
"I also wonder if I walk away now what happens to us. I think I have made enough mistakes with out loosing you permanently. I am simply and shamelessly begging you for another chance."
He then reached in his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief. He gently wiped Jessie's eyes then held it too her nose. "Blow little girl," he said with a smile.
Jessie blew her nose then for the first time smiled back at Michael.
"I could have killed you when you tossed those sentences without even checking them. But it hurt even more when you said you would not bother me again."
Jessie stood up and stared deep in Michael's eyes.
Then without a word spoken they locked together in an embrace kissing with a passion that was built from Jessie's denial and Michael's longing. Finally they broke apart and smiled at each other.
"You realize being my girl will be a bit different with the new rules. As the man in your life I am supposed to take charge."
Jessie smiled "Yes Sir I am quite aware of the rules. Although just exactly what you mean by in charge I am not sure."
"I will lay down some rules for you later Jessie. About bedtimes and the way you dress, how much makeup you are allowed to wear that sort of thing."
"Yes Sir I understand, will you be moving in with me and Jamie?"
This was something Michael had not thought about. Well he had dreamed about it but he knew for now he needed to go slow.
"Not immediately sweetie I think you need to become comfortable with your new station in life. At least for now. Plus I have not even met your niece yet."
Jessie was grateful Mike wanted to take it slow.
"Well Mike why don't we fix that and go pick her up from the daycare. Then you're invited over for dinner."
