 The Assignment ch24

Even though they had been up late the night before the girls were up early the next morning. After changing both girls diapers Jessie was not at all happy about having to wear one. Mary was fixing the girls some breakfast. Jamie was sitting in her highchair and Jessie was sitting next to her.

Just then the phone rang. Jessie started to get it buy Mary told her to sit back down. She then answered the phone.

"Got ya oh of course we will be there. Thank you for calling."

Mary hung up the phone and returned to fixing the girls pancakes. She was serving them when Jamie spoke up.

"Mommy are you going to tell us about the phone call or not???!!!!!!!!"

"Jamie what happens to little girls that yells at their Mommy's?"

Jamie lowered her head "they get spanked please I am sowwy Mommy."

"I will let it slide this time here you girls eat your breakfast."

Both girls were already bibbed and began eating.

Jamie was quiet because she did not want a spanking. Jessie was a bit upset at being babied again. Plus she was worried about the future.

Mary got some pancakes for herself and sat down to join her girls.

"Girls we will be skipping church today. Instead we will have our own service after breakfast. But at noon there is a town meeting about your futures in this community. Mine too for that matter I go where my girls go."

"We are history Mommy and its all my fault."

"Not necessarily Jamie we have a lot of friends in this town. We will just have to see what happens. I for one am glad they are leaving it up to the community and not just the town council."

"That's right Jessie, you listen to your big sister Jamie. Plus girls even if you loose you still have legal action you can take."

"Mommy I can not speak for Jessie but I for one would never sue the town. I love it here and the people this has become my home." Right then Jamie formed a plan.

Just a few hours later Mary and her two girls wearing matching dresses walked into the town hall. Jamie of course was diapered. Mary had allowed Jessie the option of a diaper or disposable trainers. She chose the trainers. The whole town could see that, as the dresses were very short.

No one said a word to Jamie or her family. Until Michael and his Mom walked up. He kissed Jessie for all to see, then picked Jamie up setting her on his hip. Jamie was sucking nervously on her pacifier. Despite her baby dress Jessie was trying to act adult. Even thought she wanted hers badly.

Finally as the people took there seats the mayor called the meeting to order.

Jamie noticed Scott and his Mom walk in and take a seat. It hit her that maybe this would be the last time she ever saw him.

"People we are here to decide the fate of two of our young lady's and possibly there Nana Mary. Everyone knows the charges Jamie admitted she deceived the whole community. Jessie by bringing her here is an accomplice. We do not know what Mary knew or when.

The point is should we kick them out of the community and keep their portion of the inheritance. Just take the inheritance and let them stay. I open the floor for discussion.

"I would like to speak first and make this short and sweet."

The whole town looked at Jamie as she stood up.

The mayor motioned to her to go ahead. Mary and Jessie wondered what she was up too.

"First off I want to say that I am sorry for the deception. As for the story I will not even write it if you don't want me too. I do want you to know that I have come to love each and everyone of you. But please do not blame Jessie and Mary for their parts in this. Jessie was simply doing a friend a favor. Mary was just being Mary and loving us. I asked this because it is just. I will leave town this very afternoon and never bother you again. But in Mary, Jessie has found a mother. In Michael a soul mate please do not take this wonderful place away from them. " Jamie then began to cry, and tried to leave.

Michael stood up.

"Somebody stop her she is the heart and soul of this whole town and what we have all gone through to get this money. Are you people crazy let her write the story it will make our community famous? I for one wore a diaper for a while. Its not easy but it does give you a new perspective on life. This whole community has become kinder and nicer and closer. Because of the sacrifice and innocence of are young women."

Just then Scott stood up.

"I probably no more about being a baby than anyone in this town. I know the sacrifice the young women of this town made. I for one want Jamie to write her story. That and since I am totally in love with her want her to stay in our community. The story of what we have done here, as a community for each other needs to be told. It does not deserve a sad ending."

Then it started slowly at first then it began to get louder.

"Jamie Jamie Jamie Jamie Jamie Jamie Jamie."

The whole town was cheering a man turned to the mayor.

"You got your answer Mayor."

Jamie indeed wrote her story, and finished her assignment. It made the front page of every major paper in the country. She also got her full share of the inheritance.

She was maid of honor at Michael and Jessie's wedding. The town voted unanimously to keep things the same even after the year was up.

Jamie got a job at the school as a teaching assistant and she is the counselor for the school paper. She also writes a column for the local paper. Called Jamie's Corner.

Jamie and Scott are going steady and looking forward to when there mothers decide they are ready to go out with out one of there mothers along as a chaperone. Scott is finally out of diapers Jamie is not sure she will ever be. Or wants to for that matter.
